I enjoy speculating this kind of stuff, so let's see what ya'll think. The Cult Mechanicus codex is sooo thin that it offers very little to a new army list. Better to add what's here to the Adeptus Mechanicus: skitarii list and make it a single AdMech force. Tech-Priest Dominus Easily one of the best HQ units we've seen in a long time. It doesn't scale well into KT, but 30K mechanics has some units that can offer some better precedent. Kataphron Breachers they allowed SM the centurions, these are about the same. They're garbage in 40k but in KT…they're tough to get rid of and the torsion cannons will rip any model apart. Kataphron Destroyers better than the breachers, cheaper than centurions, their grab-cannons can still overwatch. These guys are an auto-take, especially if you're afraid of terms. Fulgurite Electro-priest In 40k these guys improve their invul for killing a unit. a 3++ is not a small thing! If it triggered in KT when a priest kills an enemy model, that'd reduce the number of 3++ but it could make it that much easier for a priest to get it. Now that might be fine and fair on a marine oriented table like KT but then again, maybe not. Perhaps better for the bonus to only last 1 round? Corpuscarii Electro-priest these guys are gold in KT, they look weak as crap in the profile but when each one can produce up to (perfect rolls) 15 hits in a turn, some of that is going to get through. Canticles can add +3S or re-roll close combat misses. Kastellan Robot Maniple Monstrous Creatures, denied The Datasmith makes a strong case for being the alternate choice for the team leader though! And a much better choice than the Alphas and Princeps the Skitarii list uses. Canticles The CotO work like the Doctrines for the Skitarii, but offer different benefits scaled by the number of units on the field. Adjusting the rule from 'unit' to 'model' would not be unreasonable given the smaller scale. there's also plenty of built in president for bossting skitarii and cult units, though the Skitarii codex lacks this. So big question, what if we were allowed to combine the two and have them affect skitarii and cultists right out of the box? well, limit the option to 1 of any per turn and what would you get? some better fighting/shooting priests or servitors? ok fearless vanguards? no biggie Twin-linked rangers? ohhhhh dragoons with a 2+ cover save? nifty S7-9 Infiltrators? oh [Not on the floor please]! |

I think the mix of canticles and and ws/bs boosting will be too broken in kill team, I think we could have a cult mechanicus list but to add more variety we could possibly include some Skitarri units inside, all would have a rule so that only Skitarri units get ws/bs boosts. I would however rsstrict which Skitarri units are in cult mechanicus and they would be special not core units. |

Or you could make it even easier and just let them ally with each other a la Inquisition's Allied KT rule. |
