Greetings all, I am new to this site and you variant of kill teams so i am sorry of this topic has been covered before with the new kill assassins minis coming out i was excited to use them in some games of kill team but realized that they are not in any of the army lists. after some discussion there were two reasons we felt this might be. power level and points level. i would like to argue that in both these regards temple assassins are on the high end of what is already in the game but are no more then already existing options 1. assassins are to many points. this is the essayist to refute. for this argument I am only comparing them to Special choices there are several leaders that are also in this point range however i think that assassins fit best as special choices and therefore i want an apples to apples comparison. I will begin by conceding that assassins would be the single highest base point cost models in kill teams but they have no upgrade options with upgrades all of the fallowing can match or exceed assassins point costs. chaos terminator, forgesmith, war walker, paladin, gray knight techmarine, centurion, Spacemarine Tech marine, broadside. 2. assassins are too powerful while assassins are quite powerful they are unlikely to kill more than one model in there shooting ans assault phases and with there steep points cost they will almost assuredly be out numbered. by its vary nature the kill team rules prevent mass casualties as a single model cant simply wipe out a whole squad. therefore the real problem with assassins would be if they were too hard to kill. at 3 wounds and a 4+ save they are no slouches however a bullgryn gets the same and with a T5 too. while this is the only example in the special category there are many leaders with much better defensive profiles than even this. based on this my suggestion is to include assassins as a special choice in an inquisitional force. however you may note that many of the units i compared them too have quantity restrictions i think it i only fair to do the same to the assassins, i would make them 0-1 as a group ie. taking any one assassin prevents you from taking one of any outer type. if this is an unconvincing argument for you then i suggest that a lite version of assassins be created for kill team as has been done with other models for example the lexicanum as a light version of the librarian. assassins are such a fitting model for a kill team game it would be a shame if they could not be fielded please let me and the community know if you think assassins should be included as is or if not how they could be brought down in points and power to better fit a kill team game. |
