Your team list can get bigger if you choose to spend RP on upgrading your Base Level once you've acquired the appropriate Renown. So once you've hit 2 Renown (Won first battle) you can spend 5 RP to purchase Forward Base, allowing you a 250 point team in your next battle. Main Base at 5 Renown for 10 RP giving you 300 points and so on So pretty much who ever wins the first battle will have a 50 point advantage for a while until the loser can find a way to dig them selves out of a hole. After about 10 battles or so into my campaign, my force was such that I had a 100 point advantage over my opponent (I think I was at Command Center 350 and he was at Forward Base 250), which made my opponent not really want to play anymore, forcing me to start a new list with a separate faction all together, whilst my opponent kept there list still 10 games deep. As for Gaunts with Non-Learning.... You bring up a good point with the adaptive aspect. Don't really know |

Have you discussed a solution to this issue of "early winner takes all" spiral? In campaign/league games like Blood Bowl the underdog gets a bonus, even if that is often not enough to make up for the difference, it does help a little. As it is the HoR Kill Team rules could do with a improvement in the campaign rules, I think, so it would be interesting to hear, if anyone had a worked out a local solution that could be considered. |

Locally, we provided an easy fix for your "first victor has 50pt. lead" problem. We just start at the 250 tier with no Renown. That way you need to win more than one battle to get that t+ renown sweetness. I have seen no real issues arise from starting at 250 instead of 200, and have yet to hear any complaints. Or you could just ignore the 2+ and start with 5+ RP, if you really desperately want to use 200pt. lists. Scale the rest up. It's pretty intuitive. Hope that helps. |
