7th Aprior VI Company, Special Operations Kill Team Motto: Ex Tenebras, Lux Submotto: Ad Imperium, Omnis Hero: Ollanius Pius ================================ Special Operations Kill Team - 249pt. Talent: Killing high-value, heavily-armored targets. ================================ Team Leader: Tempestor Prime 30pt. Tempestus Medi-Pack 15pt. Tempestus Scion 12pt. Tempestus Scion 12pt. Tyranids, Tau, Space Marines, Orkz. I really doubt that I am just that good (or my opponents are just that bad), and I'm guessing it has to do with my list. Is it unfair? Cheese? We've been playing in a campaign, and I'm three for three. I've only taken one casualty in two missions, and two casualties in one mission. I only had to replace one Scion (Sgt. Quintus Docherty, KIA) due to rolled losses, so now they're all BS5, except for the commander. Move Through Cover and well-placed melta fire (along with the new AM Orders-- Ignores Cover, are you KIDDING me?) has largely given me superior positioning, which ends in clean, quick kills, especially on those T4 multi-wound models with awesome saves. I may not be the most heavily-armored thing on the field, but fire superiority is winning out, and the close quarters means that range beyond 12" is just not that important. I'm very much considering making a new list (I don't want to be that cheesy jerk who nobody wants to play because his list is unbeatable because of crappy rules/oversight; I hate that guy!). But I don't want to get hosed myself because the Guard are otherwise tissue paper! Plus I was really enjoying the fluff of having each model be a single character, and I don't want to be forced into taking "regular" guardsmen, or so many that I couldn't give a crap when one dies. Can someone with a bit more objectivity (and experience) give me a some perspective on what's going on? Should I remake my list, or should I just help my opponents remake theirs? |

How come you have 6 meltas on Scions?

That explains... probably only a little of it. I should be down to four. *checks edition* Yeah, it also appears that my codex is out of date. In my version, "For every two Tempestus Scions in your team, one model (to a maximum of four) may replace its Hot-shot Lasgun with..." Totally missed that maximum. :/ Is that really since August? I'm sure I've downloaded a different version since then. Well, at least this means that it WAS the list. Thanks! ...looks like I have some apologies to dole out, and some challenges for a re-match to deliver! Srsly. Edited by Syrias, 11 Feb 2015, 05:59 PM.

How do you use that list? All in deepstrike? Is not it too dangerous? |

I don't actually really use Deep Strike except in certain missions. I mostly deploy as normal, because that extra risk isn't worth it, in my opinion. |

Also, as a Tempestor Prime, you lack the Senior Officer special rule, meaning only a few of the orders are available to you - I'm fairly sure the Ignores Cover one is an order the Prime cannot give. |

Sure, Prime don't know that order. Or maybe kind of campaing promotion allows him do that? |

Based upon your team size and number of Scions, you can have a maximum of Three (3) meltaguns. It's not until you acquire Scion 16 that you would be eligible for the fourth special weapon (meltagun). I am curious, since you built an entire Scion Kill Team, do you try using the orders from the Tempestus Scions book, or do you just stick with the AM ones even though you are playing a Scions army? |
