I've been playing Dark Angels since 5th edition and I am the first to admit that they're 6ed book was never competitive to begin with and is feeling a little dated this far into 7th. I've played a lot of normal 40k and apocalypse with my multiwing army but since my first KT game with them I was hooked. KT is a complete rebalancing of the metagame, and I can say with certainty that they perform better in KT than in normal 40k against a variety of armies. Since Dark Angels content is few and far between (anything beyond dark vengeance, that is) I figured I'd post a KT campaign list that has worked for me a few times in the past. It's simple but beautiful. NOTE: the campaigns I usually play use all the optional rules. Leader- Ravenwing Sgt (bolt pistol and chainsword) Core- Ravenwing Bikes x5 (x2 flamers) GROUPED*, Scout x2 (x2 sniper rifle) and ONE camo cloak, don't group them. Special- Ravenwing Black Knight (Ravenwing Grenade Launcher) RAVENWING SERGEANT; He's cheap, hes T5, he's got a 4+ cover to fall back on, but mainly he lets you take more than 3 bikes RAVENWING BIKERS; A generally badass unit. They're fast, they're survivable, and they put a good amount of accurate shots down the field. Taking a group of them is particularly useful, though. They serve as a good "bulk" for your team to build on when you're upgrading your base, a lot of special units cost about 50 points anyway so it works out well. Flamers are great since they are buffed by Burning Counters, wall of flame is still awesome, and it just annihilates all those swarmy KT lists out there. (lookin' at you, nids). The one drawback to the bikes is that they're core and they die on a 1 or 2 if made a casualty, but with the optional rules for injury in play these guys have a nasty habit of being knocked down and surviving. Hit and Run will let you do consistent damage to the targets you want, without worrying about being locked in a losing melee and it'll move you 3d6 :] nice. SCOUTS; good old reliable sniper scouts. Still cost effective in KT, in my opinion. Infiltrators really help in a lot of missions. The reason you take 1 camo cloak *when you can technically afford 2* is so encase you lose your leader before you expand your base you can drop a scout (the one with no camo cloak) and have enough points to make the Black Knight your substitute leader. The alternative would be leaving your Black Knight behind and thus having a huge hole in your team, so the 1 extra cloak is not worth the risk. BLACK KNIGHT; I grab this guy for his grenade launcher, but don't field him in a team until i have a base upgrade. (duh :P) The launcher just has to hit (with a blast template) for the cool grenades' effects to go off. Remember, in KT, if your blasts scatter into a wall or something they just blow up on contact! It lends good support to your biker group, especially when you're about to execute a pivotal Move-shoot-assault with your bikes and you want to soften the targets. Also Skilled Rider is pretty darn useful with all the terrain in KT. As the campaign progresses you're going to want to prioritize your RP on base upgrades, but after that you need to REINFORCE, not RECRUIT the casualty bikes back into your force, a loophole- buying back dead models is not the same as recruiting entirely new models which are required to roll to join a group with battle honors (the more honors the less chance of joining the group that campaign step). With what ever is left I highly recommend you get Battle Honors for the bike group since you're getting them for the whole group by buying them once; extra WS, Initiative, Rending, Furious Charge, Mighty Blow, and Pyromaster are a few early ones you might want to take a look at. Before your first base upgrade leave the Black Knight behind unless the sergeant is dead.To all my fellow Dark Angels give this roster a try, and see if you like it. To all others thoughts, comments, and all manner of nerdy camaraderie are encouraged. Edited by zarkotics, 16 Oct 2014, 04:39 PM.
