I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or experiences on whether or not an all Kroot Kill Team would be even remotely competitive? It is a fun idea, but I fear that the choices are so few, that they are so weak, and will not be much fun to play with. Maybe I am wrong, so that is why I ask for your input, before I buy anything :-) The team could perhaps look like this: LEADER 60 60 Kroot Shaper + Pulse rifle + Master of the Hunt + DNA Samples + Blood of the Stalker + Specialist Hunter CORE 159 63 9xKroot + Sniper rounds 6 Kroot 40 8xKroot hounds 25 Kroot rider 25 Kroot rider SPECIAL 31 31 Shaman 250pts Or perhaps it could look like this: LEADER 60 40 Kroot Shaper + Pulse rifle + DNA Samples CORE 159 66 11xKroot 28 4xKroot + Sniper rounds 10 2xKroot hounds 25 Kroot rider 25 Kroot rider 25 Kroot rider SPECIAL 31 31 Shaman 250pts Edited by Spiky Norman, 5 Oct 2014, 06:14 PM.

Not sure on the Tau core model limit- keep that in mind. Sometimes it's better to start more expensive and just add more troops in as your base unfolds. Because your base Does expand later, and as a guard player I can tell you it gets annoying when you've backed yourself into a corner with your model cap. Edited by Tack, 7 Oct 2014, 02:56 PM.

You are right about that aspect, I did not consider that. The Tau model limit is 3 for Special, where 2 will be unused if one sticks to Kroot only, as the Shaman is 1 only. The model limit is 25 for Core, which means that you can only expand with 4 models in one of the above lists. 4 models that at maximum will cost 7 pts per. It seems the maximum points for a kroot-only Kill Team at model limit would be 338 points. So that does not leave that much space for expanding, I guess. :-) I've never played a campaign with bases, so I wasn't aware of that aspect. But how high does the points in kill teams usually go in campaigns? I see that it is capped at 400 in the campaign rules, but is that hit easily or very rarely, if ever? It's easy to get to 300. Above that means a fairly long campaign. But that's based on whether or not you are using all of the optional rules and such. |

Maybe the addition of some sort of small Great Knarloc, if one could be scaled down for KT. I used to keep a contingent of Kroot Mercenaries to go with my feral orcs, Knarloc charging alongside Squiggoth was rather nice.. Actually, wouldn;t mind seeing a seperate kroot mercenary list...
