As with all the traitor legions there were a number within those legions who remained loyal to the Emperor, although they would have mostly all been eradicated by the rest of their legions. For all intents and purposes though, the Death Guard turned traiter and became the Chaos Death Guard we know today, aligned to Nurgle. |

What he said basically. There were a few who escaped with Garro; the rest of the loyalists were on Isstvan III and got utterly spanked. Those who had fallen through the cracks so to speak would have ended up plague marines anyway by the time Mortarion hit Terra 'cause of his alliance with Papa Nurgle. You could do some Isstvan III loyalists maybe? |

Although that saying I read somewhere just last night (in the new WD I think) that the Death Guard in fact remained loyal to the Emperor, not Horus. However I guess perhaps their dabblings in Chaos meant they were declared traitor anyway, even if they actually had never formally turned against the Emperor. Not sure how true that is, or how that works though. |

Thanks guys, the reason i got confused was through miss reading a white dwarf thing which said something along the lines of "I have decided to collect a death guard army which stayed loyal to the emperor not horus." i took it as the whole leigon had not just his army. |
