I'm going to use this thread to keep together discussion gaming in the Loidis Subsector for Inquisitor28.

Hopefully we can use it for expanding the background as well as the various gms setting up games.

I'll use this first post for keeping important posts available for reference easily.
The first event is now set up for 18th August at Travelling Man in Leeds. I'm planning to be there from 10am and we'll be able to play through until whenever though it is dependent on my being around.

This day will be set up to introduce newer players to playing Inq28 as well as hopefully starting up some of the Loidis sub plots. If I can sort it with Molotov and depending on the players coming we may also move ahead some of the Inqvitational subplots.

Figures can be provided, but this is a temporary measure and I would expect players to start assembling their own warbands.

The wiki for the sector to play in.
The subsector the Leeds games would mostly play in. I've kept it sparsely populated so we can build from it
The basic parameters I suggest we use for creating characters
The two pinned threads at the Conclave should give you a lot of access to most of the pdfs available.
and Dark Magenta with most of the others

If people can let me know they are planning on coming along and what sort of time we can plan accordingly. I have two GMs at the moment including myself so more would be welcome.

It will cost £3 to play for the whole day and there will also be warmachine freeplay as I'm fairly certain some of those coming to play will bring their warmachine with them as well as Pathfinder Society.

Is it alright if I come? I would like to do a mix of GMing and playing but if you are stuck I can GM all day.

I will bring the mine if you like and should have some "Bad guys" painted up by then and will bring some NPCs.

I've been given leave by SWMBO and the Little Lord to come along and play I can supply NPC's and possibly a basic Inq warband for loan if required

May even have some scenery (may not though :-D Depends on how much the Little Lord lets me get away with)

Neil101 - I look forward to seeing Vendrake again. Shame Tybalt will be elsewhere.

Little Brother - more than fine for you to come. Mine would be great. I'll drop you a pm to talk about gming.

Necris - More scenery would be good. I've got some basic ideas for scenarios, but new terrain will just help.

Going to do more tomorrow as just back from London.

Just out of curiosity where is the gaming spacing in Travelling Man?

I'll see what I can construct while the little lord sleeps in the afternoons, I may even see if I can get it painted with at least an undercoat

I can also GM if required

Just around the corner opposite the markets.

If players could pm me a summary of their retinues and their Inquisitor's general approach that would be good. I think we may be ok for gms, but I want to check with one.

For our newer players some of the figures available to use as characters to start with:

Spoiler: click to toggle

If you are wanting to borrow figures then please let me know and we'll have a discussion about suitable characters. You probably don't need more than 4 to start with anyway.

I'm hoping to have a better idea on numbers from the local area after an event on Sunday. The three GMs are currently bashing around quite a lot of ideas on not just this event, but also where we think things might go, but if anyone is looking at coming then letting us know with an idea on what sort of retinue you'd be wanting to play with would be good.

Provisionally playing then
Necris - Inquisitor Hans Conrad - Ordo Hereticus
Neil101 - Inquisitor Absolam Vendrake - Ordo Xenos
Chris Coates
Alain Watson
James Hunt - maybe playing Nathin
Amric Manku - coming later

Maybe
Paul Gibbon
Chris Lindley

Obviously need to establish those who will be creating characters ahead of the day, those creating them on the day and who are bringing their own figures.
Another piece of info that players will need

The Inq28 reference sheet

Well first day done with four games played after character creation. There's an introduction done for Loidis subsector which will continue to be expanded as we go along. Pictures to come.

I had a great time.

Mark you got together a good bunch of guys for the day. I feel I let my 2 players down a bit in the first game. They had both had a good read of the rules before hand so I should have made it a bit more difficult and complex for them. I also should definitely have used hidden movement for the NPCs which would have made it more fun for them. The second game I GMed went better and had some great moments.

It was an excellent little gaming venue. Fairly easy to get to despite being in the center of the city, a multistorey carpark only a couple of hundred meters down the road (£6 all day if you arrive before 10am) and plenty of places to eat nearby. I would heartily recomend it.

You'll get pictures, but battle reports are unlikely given we only had 2 GMs and we were a bit busy.
Andy - glad you enjoyed it.

Pictures from the first Loidis gaming.

Setting up the event was a little tricky as we had mostly new players and no one had really spent a lot of time beforehand talking over their retinues. We also lost one GM at the last minute so it ended up being just Andy (Little Brother) and I running the event. Luckily we'd done some preparation work that was able to be fairly fluid.

We had 5 players on the day playing:

Tony - Inquisitor Hans Conrad - Ordo Xenos Radical
Chris C - Inquisitrix Beatrice Alfero - Ordo Hereticus Moderate
James - Inquisitor Willem Nathin - Ordo Malleus Radical
Chris L - Can't remember their name - Ordo Xenos Puritan
Al - Can't remember their name - Ordo Xenos Radical

Now we didn't know most of this before the event as we spent a few hours going through character creation with most people getting characters at a reasonable level etc. Still think there is some work to do on that as I still think Inquisitor Conrad is a little too good at everything for example.

Because we were down one GM we also had to improvise a little on terrain, but that was also because I didn't get any time to build of paint terrain this time.

I wrote an introduction to Dalthus Sector and to Loidis in particular which I should send over to Molotov as he may want to share it.

The basic setup for the day was to start three plot strands - one focused on introducing Melnet, a planet facing potential great upheavel in its future, but where certain groups are looking to sow more discontent for their own purposes; the second on Thornwood where a sun cult had been gaining ground which was of concern given Thornwood was a pilgrimage world; and thirdly starting some cold trade connections.

Posted Image
The first game run by Andy took place on Melnet where advance parties from two of the Inquisitors were set to at the spaceport.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Andy will have to cover the narrative here as I barely managed to get over and have a look whilst running my own game. The idea of the scenario was to introduce the players to the rules whilst starting the plot threads.

Meanwhile I was setting up things on Thornwood.

Posted Image
Thornwood is an arboreal world hence the choice of architecture and this scenario took place in the city of . A Sun cult preacher had been identified and both Inquisitor Conrad and Inquisitruix Alfero made their way to investigate him.

Posted Image
The preacher in full swing as Alfero's group including her Interrogator and the Verispex detective Adler arrive down the bottom.

Posted Image
Inquisitor Conrad's group started up on the bridge coming in from the other district.

Posted Image
Conrad made his way quickly towards the preacher attracting attention by doing so. Alfero sauntered in paying attention to the other interested party. Adler was distracted by the architecture (and bad dice rolling).

Posted Image
The preacher has run for it, Conrad in pursuit about to step and slip in the fountain whilst Alfero and her interrogator Barbarus keep an eye on proceedings without showing their hand.

Posted Image
Castor, Conrad's gladiator was moving around the sides of the square after the preacher. Their other retinue member was positioned at the top of the ramp ready to offer covering fire, but by drawing his weapon he had given himself away a little.

Posted Image
The preacher pursued.

Posted Image
Finally Conrad caught up with him and offered him protection from the Inquisition who were after him whilst also giving his name. Alfero listened very interested in proceedings.

Posted Image
Conrad and the Preacher prepare to leave, but not before Conrad takes a shot at Adler who had revealed himself and was walking away.

Posted Image
The Ex guardsman attempts to cause a distraction, but fails to penetrate the barrels as he limps away.

The scenario ended with Conrad in with the preacher, but his guardsman was being hotly pursued by Alfero, who was now highly suspicious of this other Inquisitor.

Over in Melnet and the setup for the next scenario was that one of the groups attacked at the spaceport was following up on leads as to where the leak that announced their presence to the gangers came from, whilst the other Inquisitor was trying to make contact with a potential source on cold trade activity.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Again Andy can tell you about what happened over there as I was down the mines.

Back on Thornwood

Posted Image
Conrad was looking at ways to get more leverage on the Sun cultists and was using the preacher to introduce him. They had travelled to a deserted mine where others from the cult were hiding out.

Posted Image
Conrad's retinue

Posted Image
Conrad et al make their way towards the cultists whilst Alfero's group sneak in from another entrance.

Posted Image
The Preacher tries to convince his compatriots that Conrad should be listened to.

Posted Image
Things degenerate as Barbarus is spotted by Crastor the Gladiator and has to open fire.

Posted Image
Barbarus pins Crastor behind the pallet whilst Alfero decides on her next course of action.

Posted Image
Crastor and Barbarus end up in close combat which ends with Barbarus on the floor but saved by Alfero attacking in the back.

Posted Image
Alfero though had exposed herself and she comes under fire, whilst her blademistress Miss Capello had ended up fighting both Conrad and his other retinue member.

The two overcame her and the retinue member then moved around to throw a grenade which took out Alfero.

What I learned from that is I need to check retinue builds a lot more. I do think Conrad's bunch were too combat focused, particularly for his back story and throwing a grenade in a mine did end the game, but I should have penalised the thrower more as it would lead to a potential collapse. I should have also excused the npcs and just left it to the retinues. Something to learn from.

Of the two games I was much happier with the first obviously, but next time it will be easier to build up scenarios that actually cater to the retinues much more.

Going to look at running another event in the new year and spend some time between now and then getting scenery sorted (or hopefully having the other GM with the scenery done). Storylines have been started and the Inquisitors are already starting to make their presences felt on both worlds.

Looks like a good day. Let me know the date for the next event.

The space port set up really did it for me.

The battle for the preacher looked like fun. But it was missing a vital ingredient...those listening to his fanatical ramblings....it made me want to make some civilians (maybe out of some chaos cultists)...hmmmmmm ideas.

We had a few civilians but they were more passive than potentially they might have been if shooting broke out earlier.

Be good to see you and maybe we can progress our own plot strands too.

It will probably be the new year but we'll see.
