Tervigons are T6 with 6 wounds, so they take a hell of a beating, plus you can bounce feel no pain around on them with psychic powers. Plus I'll have the mawlocs popping up demonic whack a moles and the doom playing merry hell in their back field, so they might have a tough time with target priority in the early game. I'm considering imperial fist for basing trash, cause my mate plays them and yellow would stand out, though lamenters might work too. . Especially with the anti nid bias and history. . . |

The others nids you have made have been incredible, so I can't wait to see more. Now, get some paint on them.

Test mini done, the photo is shite, I'll take another tmrw in the day light.![]() Things I think I need to improve: - The transition of colour on the jaws/weapon. - The bio bits on the weapons, flesh tone seemed a good idea, but it might need a further highlight. - Carapace, needs another highlight. - Masking, there is a touch of over spray in the left forearm. Any other comments/criticisms/witticisms (looking at you Ricky) feel free to let me know. |

As I'm average painter at best so I can't really offer any special painting insight but here goes: - will there be a clear & shiny varnish over the chitin armour/caparace parts in the end? Would make it more bug like, I think. Then again it's different matter if you want that kind of finish in the first place? - did you consider reversing the two main colours, so yellow for armour/carapace and purple for non-carapace parts? Thus the bio bits would look more obvious than now, now they seem to disappear in between the yellow parts. LvK |

I like the overspray, looks like a natural mottling. Amazing as ever though, looking forward to more. Dave |

As I said on Warseer these are looking ace, especially the Doom conversion, but the scheme still reminds me of Smarties..... ![]() Sorry, guess that's not very helpful. I think the scheme works, I also like the overspray and thought it was intentional to be honest, looks like mottling on the carapace. But I agree and think the top carapace needs just one more highlight, but they may be the photo. |

Great conversion work! Not too keen on the paint scheme (although done well). Really look forward to seeing this army come together Sheep. |

You're gonna loathe me Aaron, I don't think I've ever said anything bad about your stuff, but I don't like the scheme at all. I think partly my problem is that it's way too primary. Such a vibrant yellow and a vibrant blue mixed together makes it look garish and... agh, sorry, comedic. When you said yellow, I thought you meant more of an 'ochre' (a brownish yellow) than that. Something a little more muted and natural. I'm really sorry. If you like it, crack on! |

Haha, nah you're all right Ricky. I can see where you are coming from with the primary nature of the scheme, but that is a bad photo. The purple is alot more grey, hopefully this update will allay your fears. I've done some more work on the army. Here's the mawlocs pre yellow glaze. ![]() Tyranofex PIP. ![]() Doom PIP ![]() Ive taken to calling these my table gants, because they start the game deployed, the rest of the spawn gants can wait til after everything else is finished for some paint. Termagants finished ![]() What do you think now Ricky

I think you painted one Gaunt, then I said some words and I thought you stopped. But you didn't stop, you painted about a [well, someone needs a cool off period]zillion more. Cool. I like the mouths. I really like how you've done that. And the colour transitions from blue to pink are really, really nicely done. I still don't like the scheme. I should add, there's nothing technically wrong with it, I just don't like it. But regardless they are very well done. Is that fair? Edit - Also, though I like the idea of the ground bursting open so that the thingies can come out, I don't like how you've done it. OK. I don't know exactly the right vocab to express this so I'll use my own made up terms. The 'flaps' of ground around the 'reverse crater' are too straight and regular. I would have used something like cork (you can buy it in sheets) to do that so that the edges of the 'flaps' look less artificial, cause right now they don't look natural at all. Stupid Sheep. Painted more in 2 pages of 1 log than I ever have in my life. I WILL kill this thread.... Edited by The Antipope, 14 May 2012, 05:11 PM.

All fair points mate, im glad there are somethings you like about the scheme, but you cant please everyone. Im actually really starting to like the yellow, it mot "grim dark" but ive painted so much of that lately i thought id try something bright, modtly to see if i could. I agree with you on the basing, unfortunately I didn't have any cork, and time is against me. I used plasti card to do it, and should have waited to get some filler/putty or something to bulk it out. I should say I appreciate the honesty mate, I'd rather that then platitudes that don't mean anything or challenge me as painter. Edited by Sheep, 14 May 2012, 11:32 PM.

Certainly vibrant. Admittedly I like them a little more subdued, but these are nicely painted. Will look striking when all put together. I like the purple fading on the tyranofex weapon. |

I'm not just saying this, but thy are growing on me. I keep coming back and having a look. It's like when a fat ugly bird fancies you and you write it off, but some deeper part of your brain thinks..."maybe...maybe just one time..." |
