OK, so there has been much discussion and debate about the competitions. Out thanks go to all members of the forum who contributed ideas and especially to those members from the Honor Guard for their support and passion. As a result of those discussions, this is the first of the new format Competitions - "Single Mini". It will run until the end of May. To give you advance warning, the competition ending June will be "Vehicle" and that ending July will be "Monster", August will be back to "Single Mini", in time to get your Golden Deamon entry sorted for Gamesday! So, how is this a new format you may be asking? Quite simply this. We want this competition to be about both painting AND modelling. We recognise that some are better at one or the other, not necessarily both. As such, every month, there will be TWO votes, one set up for the quality of the painting, and one to represent the effort put into the modelling. If a figure or model is a straight stock item, it will not of course be entered into the modelling vote - there has to be regognisable conversion or modelling effort. However, for it to be in this modelling category, it does have to be painted too. Voting will be by your peers - everyone gets a vote. Further more, there will be prizes for the winner of each vote, on offer this month, AB Baseball caps and as a special kick off for this new format, there will be a choice of book titles or other prizes that will be listed once up and running. Not only that, but the first and second place finalists will be entered into the hall of fame (so potentially FOUR entries in the Hall). If the winner is a Mod, he will forgo his winning Prize in favour of the second place runner up. We are expecting entries from the HG and Mod teams. Simple fact is, you are painting stuff for your plogs anyway, this can simply be a figure from that collection so everyone with an active project should easilly be able to put one up! Jase and I will be on hand to put up votes and offer encouragement, but we are looking to you guys to inject the enthusiasm and passion shown in the various competition discussions. So, "Single Mini"........speaks for itself. Any gaming format, over to you. All we ask is that you put up the usual date stamped start, regular updates, encouragement to your competition and a final entry , clearly marked "Final Entry - Painting" in bold green and "Final Entry - Conversion" in bold red. If you want it in both, you have to put BOTH final entry markers up please. We need to see that somethig IS a conversion. If you think my old eyes or Jase's tired eyes won't pick it up, then drop us a pm explaining, otherwise, judges decision will be final! Final photo can olny be one file. If you want a montage of shots, please learn to do so. If there is more than one photo in your final entry, we will take the first one we see. So, who's in? End of may is when I finish uni after exams, so may well be painting a mini in that timeframe. No idea what just yet, but in. |

does that mean it's a cycle of single -> vehicle -> monster? Would like to see squad in there. Or is it possible to make a squad under "single" (sounds wrong but had to ask). I'm definitely down on this one but I'll wait with deciding what to do (I have a bunch of small models that would be neat, but not with just a single one of them  )

Not yet decided but probably not - we are only squeezing single in august as a last ditch attempt for people to get Golden Demon entries done for UK GD. Seeing as I quite fancy squad in there myself I think we'll try and get it in there for October. |

Neth, no that format won't be rotating. That is just what is coming up in the next few months, as was asked for by the AB members. I actually have a few single models hanging around, one of which could be painted up for this I feel sure.

So becuase its a Moddeling and painting compo does the model need to be assembled in the time as well or can it be from before hand? Cheers Drake- |

I'll rule on that. If it's modelled in the time frame, it can enter both. If however it was made before but unpainted, it's only fair to everyone if it enters painting only. Thanks for raising that one bud. |

I'll throw my hat in here. I have plenty of models to be painting (don't we all?) and I'm not relying on stuff not getting posted to BFPO on time for this comp. I'll have a dig around at home then pop my balls onto the table too  Edit. Wierd quadruple postage. Bloody slow work internet connection
