Prince of Sambuca - black lightning!
|
My lords, ladies and gentlepeeps of the =AB= May I welcome you to the next great community endeavour: We will rock you! We fellow gentry of the 'Bunker have placed down the gauntlet and challenge thee nobles to grab thy armour, polish thy shield and make sure the surfs muck out thy pony for it is the season of Knightly Tournaments! Using the rules of honourable combat laid down in the below link we are inviting fellow hobby junkies to create their own magnificent Knight, fit to bless the hallowed grounds of the jousting tilt. Thou shall have a patent of nobility to prove your noble heritage: Bretonnian jousting rules page60&61 These rules found by El Diablo might prove useful too: FULL TILT You may ask yourself: So what is the usually drunken member of the MODs asking me to do now? I'll tell you: We are after a small band of hobby heroes to build and paint the following... 1- a Knighly hero of Bretonnia mounted on a fine steed (so that will be a knight on a horse then). Each knight will require his own heraldry and (according to Andy, cos he knows about this stuff as he created it waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy back when, a PATENT OF NOBILITY). 2- if a knight is a bit too much we are also looking for scenery buffs to knock up a couple or 3 Jousting Tilts. You may also be asking yourself: What's in it for me and why should I do it? I'll tell you: This new mini game will be available for all to play at a future =AB= event in the UK. For those of you further away unable to attend DON'T DESPAIR! This is a perfect wee MOJO pick me up for those on a budget who want a quick game to play with mates over a beer or two. You may be now asking yourself: How the hell am I going to get a knight? Yet again I'll tell you: We are looking to the generosity or our community to help provide the knights in question. To that end I have bought a box (don't tell my wife or I'm deadmeat!) and have 4 available for onward postage to UK based members selected from those who volunteer their painting services. You're probably asking: But you live in sunny Cyprus, how the hell are you going to get to a future =AB= event with this stuff if we post it to you? Here I am again: Like the last Gamesday table there will be a responsible person who will act as a central depot for all bits and bobs. This guy will be nominated and I'll update this when it's decided. Now you've only got a couple of questions left: 1- How do I volunteer and get involved? 2- How long have I got to get this all sorted for Mr G? Well, before I retire for a beer or two tonight: 1- Just pop a post with your intended hobby helpfulness below, be it painting your own knight, providing a knight to be painted, building a tilt etc. Worthy gentry will be duly notified and quests will be issued! 2- I'll be encouraging you to keep this bubbling along at a slow pace, many have already volunteered to help with Gamesday prep and that will take priority. After gamesday this will ramp up it's priority level. Somelinks by the Arch Duke Digits for any terrain inspired bits you may well need: Jousting scenery #1 Jousting tents #2 So what are you waiting for? Have at it lads! Sigh, you really know how to get me..! Sign me up. I will see if I can't find some parts to make a brave/foolish (maybe black) knight with servants. You have my lance! Edit: This is so going to steal my Sons of Sek mojo.

I was actual thinking of creating a dark elf "assassin" who have disguised himself as a knight. But if anyone is interested I have an old wood elf general on horse. ![]() EDIT: Btw, there are many good possibilities in the Lord of the Rings range.

Honestly, I prefer the Full Tilt rules, if only because being able to customise your knight appeals to me. I've started converting my own knight, as I figured that's what people would be doing (customising a knight so that it matched their heraldry and bringing it to the event.) The idea of the Ammobunker producing a standing group of knights that could be used for the event is cool, though! |

![]() ![]() ![]() Put this together this evening - the Bretonnian plastics are rather static to say the least! I took the lance from the Empire General plastic kit and the shield is a shaved down Chaos Warrior shield - I thought it'd be nicer for painting the heraldry... I went for a plain helmet too, as I'm not keen on the fancier helms! |

We are aiming to have a pure Bretonnian knightly force for the initial prt of this project. There is nothing to stop you creating your own other race knight. Something I'm going to work on between now and games day is generic stats for other race knights, but I'll be asking for help with this later on.

I found the Bretonnians a little static at first, but I'm pretty pleased with how my Knight is shaping up to be quite dynamic. I used two different halves for the horse, so it looks as though it's mid-gallop. I also used the tail from a Pegasus. The knight's legs are from a Pegasus knight also, and I've found that with some positioning you can make the knight look as though he's leaning forward, gaining momentum so that he can strike with maximum force. I really like your use of the shield, though... Very interesting idea that I'll have to see if I can replicate. Although I wasn't immediately sure if I wanted a crested helm, I went for it as in the Full Tilt rules there are options to strike at the opponent's crest (and it seemed a little unsporting to deny my opponent the opportunity.) The lion represents my fiancee and her family, so I thought it was cool. I cut the crest off one helmet and transplanted it to another, because I liked the =][=-esque slots on the visor, which fit me!

My plan with the dark elf was to have him disguised as a human knight, if he is going to be bretonnian I'm not sure. Maybe tilean, estalian or imperial. Thinking of using magnets on him so I can change both arms and head. I would be interested in helping with the rules, so just shoot me a pm if you wish. And here is some inspiration from 2nd WFRP on Bretonnia. |

Good to see immediate work guys!!! Good work so far both of you. Chris, do me a favour please. Measuring from the table, (ie not the top of the horse base), how high does the tilt barrier need to be please? Edited by Digits, 18 Mar 2012, 12:47 PM.

Inch and a half would be about right, would go to roughly saddle height and give enough room for the rider to get a lance over the tilt without the lance going up at an angle. |
