Hi guys, from the topic title you might thing that this plog would be all about necrons, rebooting and such :D

Much to the contrary, this plog will be all about our 40k projects (Imperial and Chaos mainly) which for whatever reason have been left by the wayside, forgotten about, or are so hideous that they need rebooting from the start.

We decided to do this as a joint plog so that we could keep each other motivated towards our end of year goal of being able to field more finished models then you could shake a stick at.

This all cae about from discussing our various monetary woes (as we both work for the same company, we have been feeling the pinch as we have been on strike a lot recently) and just by looking at the piles of unbuilt and boxed stuff we have unused, we figured it was time to make somethign of ourselves and get it done, rather then just collect boxes of stuff, e.g. I found 3 unbuilt Russes and a Vanquisher which needs tracks and a paintjob in a box under my bed! THATS 4 TANKS I FORGOT ABOUT!

On the list, so far are:
Sachiel:
Deathwing - a reboot to finish them off and rebase them to fit our terrain boards.
Vostroyans - a kickstart is needed to get one with these guys, in a bit maybe. SOLD!
Space Wolves - on and off with this army for a long time, i WILL get them finished.
Cadians - a planned force, recycled from various sources, ebay and catachan parts.

Olympian:
Steel Legion - this is one of those armies which is so horrific, it needs stripping and completely repainting.
PDF Guard - to go with his Battle Sisters, this army needs a little work, but most of it is complete, mainly its just the basing which needs re-doing.
Numerous Super Heavie Tanks - noen of which are finished, or match his armies, so a complete recycle of these is in order.
Space Wolves - In addition to his Great Company (which featured in Tale of a bit back), Olympian has stated a Loganwing force which is going well, and plans for a Force of Furry Fury, lots and lots of Thudnerwolf Cavalry, He has been told to hold off on the "new section" (The Thunderwolves) and get the Loganwing and other stuff finished first.
Convict/Penal Legion - converted out of Catachans and various Necromunda Gangs, this army is mostly just undercoated, so should require just painting, but we will see ;)
Sisters of Battle - The real kicker in the project, they require a quick look to bring them up to the current standard of painting, but being one of Olympians "PREMIER" armies, i think he is going to be very protective of the girls...
Grey Knights - just a Squad of these, but the fact is that half of them need stripping, and the other half need building...
CHAOS - now, Olympian has far too much Chaos, lets be frank about this, when you have all 4 Forge World Greater Daemons, 3 Shelves of figures in your display cabinet, and then you have god knows how many foam trays full of chaos marines, khorne berserkers, thousand sons, noise marines, plague marines, traitor guard, plague zombies, beastmen cultists, i think you've gone a little overboard.
I honestly do not know how much Chaos stuff he has, we will be cataloging it at a later date and seeing what gets the "reboot" treatment first.
Also included in this Chaotic lot is a little antagonistic squad for my beloved Dark Angels, namely Prick Cypher and a unit of 9 Fallen Angels, cobbled togther out of the various pieces of Mk.5 armour you get in the plastic marine and chaos marine boxes.

EXTRA PROJECT:
If we can actually get hold of the parts for it from Fraser, We will hopefully be stealing his Warhound Titan which has been sitting in a box, unused, unloved and gathering dst for the better part of 4 years now!

In the event of this, aside from the PDF Guard and Olympians Space Wolves, I will be handling most of the Imperial stuff myself, whilst Olympian concentrates on his Traitorous Dogs.

So, to the crux of the plog now, and pics.

Yesterday, after some decorating in his house, we both sat down and laid out his Steel Legion and PDF Guard armies:
Posted Image
PDF on the right, STEEL LEgion on the left, Creed with higher command squad in the center.

PDF Guard:

Steel Legion:

My first major project on these will be to paint strip them, from Olympians old paint job.
These are the second oldest army he has, apparently, and he is letting me repaint the entire lot for him.
I may have dropped mysel in this mess by offering to do it for him after seeing how they were painted in the first place.
I shouldn't make it sound that bad, as everyones first couple of armies are usually a little "off" as they learn to paint, hell you should have seen my first Lizardmen army...

So:
Posted Image
Here is where i am starting, a Steel Legion squad and Commissar.
Not sure about what type of scheme i am going to go for yet however.

Also, I found these guys hiding in the mass of Penal Legion models:
Posted Image
With my Gaunt model, i am going to make a small diorama base for the 5 of them.

I will let Olympian post up about hsi project and plans in this, but expect this log to flit about wildly between the various forces we have as we get things done.

Enjoy and thanks for reading.

To be fair though mate, you can paint an awful lot better quality now then when you first came onto the bunker.

The gold on that super does look cak, lets be frank, and now that you can actually paint it and get some depth into the gold, the tank will look a whole lot better for the effort :D

well a quick up date in here but there will be more going up in my main log latter today http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7257097/17/ but in keeping with the name Recycle, Renovate and Reboot! here are a few pics of what i've done so far and know update yet on the super heavy as i'am wanting to get my wolf wing done first!

Posted Image
first take some space wolves that you don't like the bases of.

Posted Image
rip them of, add some filler and stuff

Posted Image
then some SNOW!!!!

Posted Image
and like it so much you end up doing all your army.

well allmost all of my army.

i've allso started redoing all the fur on my puppys with a tut i got of Sachiel big TY there, and i have finaly got round to rebasing my wolf lord which i said was a temp base when GW first redid the space wolves, and that was what 2 years? ago. still a couple of thing to do on him but he is all most there now.

Olympain update?

Posted Image

Not a fan of the base on the wolf lord but we have been through this, so its done with.

My own update runs a littl like this, mainly basing with a little paint thrown in.

As i mentioned in my Vampire Counts plog, work is back to normal so i have been pulling some overtime to get some extra cash.

Whilst we were working out a camo scheme for Olympians Steel Legion, i took to completing my first Grey Hunters pack to get them done:
Posted Image
Just metals lefts on a few of them, and snow and grass on their bases and my first squad for this will be completo.

With the bases, i decided to follow Olympians filler technique, but took it one step further in adding some height to the marines:
Posted Image

This allows me to models, almsot true scale marines without havign to go through to whole conversion process which istime consuming and requires new parts, as an example, here is one of my space wolves next to one of Olympians undercoated Steel Legion:
Posted Image
You can see the added height makes the marine noticably taller then the guardsman.

My Termie pack i did a little basing work on as well:
Posted Image
I found out the fifth member who had been hiding in a box and then realised i left the third Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield toting Termie at Olympians...this is not good.

and whilst still on the Space Wolf Front, the Swordsng has had his skin repainted to fit my new image of him, and a little work started on his frost sword:
Posted Image
All i need for him now is 28 Blood Claws to lead! :D

on the basing front Seth and Crowe have been started with their bases:
Posted ImagePosted Image
the whole snow and grass bit will come later accross all of these guys and my Vampire stuff which is in the same boat basing wise, I am not mixing up batches of snow mix or grass/snow mix just to do one model.

Finally, after i found the other two boxes ofthese guys i have hadlying around for ages, i decided to do a little more work on my first Sanguinary Guard model:
Posted Image
The power sword is from Jester power weapon tutorial (thanks mate), and the gold has been completely redone from the previous incarnation.
Not sure wether to leave him with teh bare head and go the Blood Angels route, or wether to replace the head with a helmet (not Deathmask) and go the Angels Sanguine route and paint his right shoulder pad half red/half black.

Thoughts guys?

well, thats all from me for a while, the Wolves will be finished for the next update, i hope, and the Steel Legion will have been started on, if i can finalise the camo scheme for them.

Wolves and ghosts are looking good, any movement on your death wing yet?

Olympian: No movement on the Deathwing as of yet. Will be taking your advice and waiting for the codex and 6th edition to see if they become a viable force, otherwise i am selling them.

So, movement on 40k stuff halted for a while due to work and other commitments outside of hobby time. Also if any of you have taken a look, my Vampire Counts army got started on, this has now been put on pause due to myself and Fraser planning on going to a 500 point 40k Doubles tournament in June.

In an effort to keep the mojo going and keep painting, i have started to finish off several space marine characters which i have had sitting on my painting table for a long while:
Posted Image
L-R:
White Scars Librarian (Painted using the Tutorial on youtube), Ultramarines Chaplain, Gabriel Seth of the Flesh Tearers.
I am stumped on the banner for the White Scars Librarian, any suggestions would be appreciated, nothing comedy though, as i am painting him for a proper display piece.

Finished just today, was Fraser's model of Crowe for the Grey Knights:
Posted Image
Posted Image
I really enjoyed painting this model once i sat down to do it, eventually i might get round to doing the purifier squad Fraser asked me to paint to go with him.

Now, a 40k Doubles Tournament was mentioned earlier:

Myself and Fraser will be fielding Guard, which means that my Catachans has found a new lease of life, rather then being consigned to the Ebay pile like my Vostroyans, I really seem to have taken to fantasy after seeing some of the new monsters which GW are producing, thats why my 40k stuff has been lacking.

So, these will be appearing soon:
Posted Image

Along with these two Russes, built as Exterminators with HEavy Bolters al round and pintle Heavy Stubbers:
Posted Image

As said earlier, ideas for the Librarians banner would be highly apprecaited.

Crowe is looking very good, and its good to see some movement on your guard.
As for the libaraian I would go for something classic, not sure what though lol.

Fraser: Why are we friends again?

Olympian: well thanks for your well thought out suggestion about the banner, that helped a lot.

So anyway, not much movement done, as we have been hashing out army lists for the doubles tournament, and i will be cracking on with them as i have had a load of bits turn up for me to start work with.

Whilst i was waiting i had a crack at basing some Space Wolves, only got these two termiantors finished at the minute though, and the thunder hammer termie still needs metals doing on him :s
Posted Image

And with the part for the guard arriving at last, a proof of concept model for Olympian:
Posted Image
Posted Image
Cadian torso and catachan legs, i just threw this one together as a quick tester, but i have a host of other bits for conversions and detailing to make a set of Cadian Special Ops troopers, which are going to become the Veteran section of my planned Cadian force, eventually.

Also managed to get two Russ Hulls built, need to get over to Olympians on sunday to pick up the last pieces i need to convert up the tank commander as i stupidly left them there...

Well, one infantry dwn, 29 to build, then 20 infantry and 8 vehicles to paint inside of a month, this should be fun...

Well, its an update time, a fruitful and productive Bank Holiday was had.

This is the results of 3 hours or so work whilst watching Dr. Who DVD's at Olympians:
Posted Image

The first officer built:
Posted Image

The first complete squad ready for painting (I apologise for the flash):
Posted Image

Exterminator and Chimera:
Posted Image

Exterminator, this one we added some stowage to, need some more yet mind:
Posted Image
and Rear:
Posted Image

The other tanks will have stowage added to them, as soom as my Tamiya stowage kits turn up, but i am goign to go ahead and spray them in the morning.
I am thinking of going for a colour scheme like this:
Posted Image
But with plain green underneath the white.
Spraying them usign the blu-tak method which GW put on their website a few years ago (subsequently lost)

27 Days to go.
