So a tiny update.

I have re-painted some of the black parts on all of them, and now I have also painted metal on half of them.

(They look a lot better in person.)

Remember they are not finish yet.

I feel like I need a complementary colour for the weapons and tubes, but I'm somewhat blank what colour I should choice..
Any ideas?

The guard look great in that colour scheme. They are very neatly painted and look very smooth. Yellow over black can be a pain even with new citadel paints. I personally would do the fleshtone next then see how they look. As for the colour for weaapons and tubes I would go for another warm colour as you have chosen a warm yellow and brown already. Suggestions include a rich orange or a red colour to stay in the warm zone or maybe a neutral colour like green or codex grey but stay away from blue, ice blue and cold colours. But thats just me, overall they lovely so far :D

I'm far from experienced painter but also maybe some sort of a wash on the guns and metals in general would be in order, now they are pretty shiny (might be camera's flash too?).

@deffberf: I have a blood red, that I will throw a bit on as the decals will also be red, but think the tubes will be painted grey as not to take all the attention . And thanks for calling them lovely, they appreciate that. ;)

@Lucius: Wash are coming soon mate, don't worry.

So painted metal and black on the four left:

Now I need to paint a few spots of red and grey, and tidy some areas up, and then washes will come. :)

A few spot colours and the washes and they are going to look brilliant.

Thanks Marovian.

A crises have hit me! I traded Zaamel for several of the chaos decals so I could get some khorne symbols.
BUT, the khorne symbols are black, like their armour. :(
Now I am quite unsure what to do about it.
Maybe paint the decals red after they have been applied or paint the edges in a dark grey?

A good thing is that I have noticed that I have a lot more brush control than when I started, and that I don't have to strain my self as much to paint the "hard" spots. :)

Added some red and a layer of Ogryn flesh. I will give them some more washing and then highlights.
The wash doesn't show too well on these pictures, which makes me feel like giving up on them.

I soon want to be done with these, they are starting to get annoying..

Gerner, you really shouldn't be down on them, they look great to me. I can see the extra definition that the wash has given them. If you wanted to increase the shading and definition, then you could add a bit of devaln mud to ogryn flesh to see what difference it makes. Start at 5:1 Ogryn Flesh: Devlan and do it on one small part of the model at a time.

However, like I said the definition is there - the most important thing is to be happy with them in real life yourself.

Oh, and red is a very good spot colour.

@Deffberf: Thanks mate. :)

@Marovian: Thanks a lot. I was actual close to changing the spot colour to a dark camouflage green, but I will stick with the red.

Really keeps me going to receive encouraging words.

A bit more done today. Chipping, new wash and more love on the bases.

I guess I am somewhat slow, but my life is a tad difficult at the time.

When I am done I will take some pictures in sunlight.

They're coming along quite nicely mate, though I think the fatigues could do with another wash and a highlight or two. But that's why they're still WIP :)

Have to agree, I think a simple wash of devlan mud would do wonders to the yellow fatigues.

Sheep and Digits; your wish are my command.
A layer of devlan mud have been added, I will begin the highlights later.

Do you think they need highlights on the black armour, or are the armour fine as it is?
I was planning on using adeptus battlegrey as the highlight, but I don't know if it will ruin the look. :)

Black is always tricky (for me anyway - the reason I sold my black templars) as extreme highlights are difficult to do well. Because of their nature, these guys could probably stand a light dry brush highlight of grey.

Adeptus Battlegrey is the perfect highlight colour for the black on these. They do take a time to paint properly and I understand the wish to rush and finish them. But hang in there and your patience will pay off. Thems looking great.

I'm with the knitted toy. Take your time and make proper grey highlights on the black, it really pays off to do a proper job on blacks, as otherwise they'll be very dull and flat.

@Digits: Black is still being a real tester for me, but I like the challenge.

@Deffberf: Thanks. Okay, Adeptus Battlegrey it is then, I thought so as well.

@Unwanted: Thanks. I will do, for now I'm a bit low on mojo and interested in other stuff, but I will get them done!

So, some lack of update..
I was visiting AWOL and we got a few things done, he learned me how to do Decals and now I can do that, look for yourself.

Sorry for the image quality, but you have to get use to it. My ex-gf is moving out and taking her camera with her. :(

So I'm going to order two chimeras and a cadian battle force to increase my Sons of Sek army.

I was planning on buying a yellow spray can to help the process of painting them faster.
Should I forget that and just stick with painting brush?

I was thinking on using either Montana Sugar Melon or Montana Flash Yellow.

Not sure which colour would be best?
I'm using Iyanden Darksun now..

Else I will try to finish some of my work in this blog as soon as I have finished the commissar for the competition. :)

Like them with the addition of the decals, look very good.

As for the yellow, go with the darker, dirtier yellow I think.
