Here is [So]Rice (aka -=Lazuli=-), elotsip, and Tommy Pistole's blog for painting five whole copies of Dreadfleet, all in less than a week for commission work. We are doing a few things in advance and will meet up on the 22nd and 23rd to paint all the big ships. Before, the pictures, a few links: Lazuli Painting: www.wix.com/lazulipainting/site Our Facebook Fan Page: (every 50 likes, I will raffle for free models!) http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lazuli...36168673101405 Finally, onto the pictures, not much so far since we just got everything in: Here's some of the little ships: A close up: Water bases: And what my table looks like now: C&C welcome! |

Good effort painting 5 sets of Dreadfleet, lots of models in each of those sets. Looking forward to seeing them all finished up.

Gundrone: Not my sets, all for commission work, I'm not crazy enough to buy 5 sets when Dystopian Wars/Uncharted Sea looks better in my opinion. Time for another update. Here is what each of us did: Me: I painted a few wreckage markers, sea monsters, and some more cogs. elotip: Airbrushed a few sails. Tommy Pistole: Assembling and cleaning models Onto the pictures: As always, C&C Welcome! |

Very nice work mate, is that for one client? Don't know much about the game itself but the idea of using five boxes worth of models to make a large fleet action appeals to me. |

Great work so far, although isn't it a little soul destroying painting all of the same thing over and over? |

@Doghouse:Thanks, 5 Different customers, just painting ut all at once, a huge game dounds tempting. @Marovian: Thanks, yeah it sucks actually, not as fun as I initially thought. Since computer won't loadd images, here's a link to the main blog. http://boardgamegeek.com/blog/680 Didn't finish the game like we wanted to, but we are almost there. Billy, Tom, and me clocked 30 hours of painting each on this. Jen helped us out and painted with us for about 5 hours. (There are more pictures on the Facebook page, I just didn't want to add everything here. So here's what it looked like at the end of the day: [http://www.warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=120914&d=1319429178[/IMG] Before the model pictures, here are some pictures of Billy's garage transformed into a temporary painting studio: Us painting, minus Billy (who has the camera) Some pictures of the work station at lunch: Now onto some of the pieces themselves: Here are the islands, about halfway done: The Shadewraith(s) The picture look kind of blurry, I will add a new on later. These models were quite fun to do, I wanted them to look more ghostly and darker than the Gamesworkshops ones so I did a lighting effect where the tops of the ships are a very pale and light green , but the bottom is darker. The Flaming Schimatar(sp?) These were quite fun too. We liked painting the different spirits on these, a fire monster, wind thing, and there are water ones carrying the ships We pretty much stayed true to the Gamesworkshop scheme. The Swordfysh These were a pain to paint all the golden shells. The bone proved to be difficult too, but they are finished minus the sails. I am still wondering why this crew used seaweeds as their flags... The Heldenhammer This was the worst ship due to its size and detail, Billy started off on this one and did the basecoats. He quit so I took it next and did the highlights on the red and roof pieces, I than gave it to Tom to do the gold. After he did a bit, Jen "volunteered" (or was conscripted, thanks either way!) to help out on these. She finished the gold. I started to paint the cannon, there are 180 cannons (Yes, I counted) on this tiny model. And there are 5 of them... The Bloody Reaver: This ship made no sense. It is supposed to be a ship, but it has a castle on it. The castle is on a mountain. The mountain isn't even on a ship, but a pile of... sunken ships? The Dwarf Ship (name?) These are WiP still, but I am liking how they are turning out. Here's some WiP of the Shadewraith, Chaos Dwarf and Skven ships. All the sails airbrushed: The islands: Cog ships: So we didn't finish today like we originall planned, but we had a great time and finished a lot. The goal is to have them done in another one and a half weeks (or possibly shorter). The models were much more detailed than we thought. I think the biggest thing that messed us up was assembly. The stupid parts didn't go together well at all despite Gamesworkshop promising that they would still fit together with paint on... We had to drill or enlarge all the holes for the models to fit and there were terrible gaps that required quite a bit of rubber bands. Some ships even took longer to build than to paint... Another update soon with more pictures! Everything: Website link: www.wix.com/laulipainting/site Facebook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lazuli-Painting-Fan-Page/236168673101405 Thanks for looking, C&C Welcome! Having lots of the ships looks impressive. If they'd have made it like a fantasy BFG I may have got some. But good work! Drake- |
