First off by vet I mean veteran, not the kind to fix my commanders pet cat or something I was just wondering abbout taking kell with creed, y'see I've read his codex entry and he just dosen't strike me as worth it He's both a body guard AND standard bearer, id rather not have someone who already has a useful role taking additional wounds and for extra points And the other thing I'm curious on is heavy weapons teams, I've a few set up with autocannons and they seem pretty good but are they worth taking quite a few of or are they better left as one or two squads per army thank yall P.S sorry to bombard everyone with questions but I've never been a part of anything like this forum, its so useful

Hi Fezz,I will give my humble opinion. Been playing guard since 1st edition, so I could probly say I am a vet. I havent taken Creed or Kell since they came out. I like to field my own bosses. However if you do take them both then you may as well take the bodygaurds from the advisors section too. Then you have 3 bodyguards for boss. The main reason for taking Kell though is his special rule "Listen up Maggots" making the squad receiving orders from the officers unit testing with the officers Leadership and in the case of Creed thats 10, almost guaranteeing to get the order through. Kell is also a well motivated and able combatant in his own right. In some situations though not all he will shine through and put a smile on your face and a grimace on your opponents. As for the heavy weapons well the Autocannon is the guard's secret weapon. High strength of this weapon alone is murder when firing twice. Combine it with its good AP and its superior range and you have the potential to wreak havoc in every single army in 40k. Use them in a weapon team of 3 issue orders to them from the officers to ignore cover of the target and any hits you get will go straight thru most armour with no save & no cover save. The targets being armour again allow you to take down everything except the most heaviest of armour. In short the autocannon is the most versatile of the IG weapons and will save the guards butts on many occasions. Happy hunting, Deff |

Yup, deffberf hit the nail on the head. Just be sure to have something for when the Land raiders roll out too. |

Every match I've played I've maxed out with mortars for the HW teams, and they are superb against single wound figures. |
