Having talked it over with PDH in the Inq28 thread, the idea of making a Necromundan Spyrer rig for a retinue member was thrown around and I got to thinking. The original models for them, while good have long started to show their age. This is where I come in. The description of the Suits is they are either Dark Age tech, or acquired offworld from 'various scources' I would imagine that would imply traded for, and nowhere better for trade of unnusual tech like Commoragh. Original intention will be as such: MALCADON: Will use a Wych mask on a Hellion torso, using a set of Hydra Gauntlets with forearm blades removed, replacing them with a pair of Spinnerets. (Splinter Pistols with cutdown barrels) Perhaps a little sculpted/repositioned leg armour. I say use the Gauntlets, because those have the little spines from the Malcadon's description, plus the fist spikes. (Imagine those deploying into Predator style blades from within each gauntlet, for ease of use) YELD: Would be a Scourge as a base, no idea how to make it look more distinct atm. Wings would be feathered, painted metallic and given individual ink washes to give them an irridescent 'scatter' quality. Just need to locate something for the Laser tubes, I would imagine a couple of the BFG antenna strapped to it's forarms would do the job. JAKARA: Would be made from Wyches as well. Venom blade/Power weapon sword, paired with a 'borrowed' Shimmershield from a Dire Avenger sprue. Using a Scourge head here, as it looks more fitting/in keeping with Gladiator/Banshee idea. Very angular and deadly looking. ORRUS: Probablly based on an Incubi, given they have the heaviest armour, if only to give the group a consistent style to their armour plating. Will consider getting one of the Finecast Incubi as it will be far easier to convert. Might have to look closely at a pair of Genestealer sized Rending claws, or maybe the Striking Scorpion Exarchs claw. Thats where my thought process is going, what do you think so far? I should have a WiP prototype for the Malcadon by the end of this/next week, pictures will appear when I believe them to be 'ready' for display |

Decided I would post my comment here as it seems more relevant.
I cannot find a picture but the dark eldar wracks come with, what I assume is, a flesh gauntlet which might look ok as a power fist on the orrus. Edited by PDH, 7 Sep 2011, 05:43 PM.

It's almost outright stated that the Tau have directly or indirectly supplied the Spyrer techology (in some degree or another.) In Codex Tau there was a bit of fluff about the Tau trading with Imperials. The lexicons provide these Tau words: J'kaara (Mirror) Y'Eldi (Winged One) Or'Es (Powerful) Mal'caor (Spider) Which obviously when compared to Jakara, Yeld, Orrus and Malcadon is quite telling. |

Not trying to discredit your idea, but I have to agree that the fluff suggests the tech is supplied by the Tau. Also, even though the new DE codex suggests that Commaragh is home to mercenaries, I don't think that suggests that the Dark Eldar are prone to trading with other species unless that trade then leads to either a high allotment of slaves, or some form of perverse pleasure on the part of the trader. |

I reckon they can get their suits from all over, i started making a spyrer matriarch using a mix of eldar and tau stealthsuit parts, still got it kicking about somewhere ![]() look forward to seeing what you make of the spyrers mind, i reckon the dark eldar parts will work fantastically
