New Sisters of Battle list: really that bad?

It might just be a case of 'this month's promotion' syndrome but I'm at least a bit tempted by the sisters list from White Dwarf this month, but I get the impression that those who already collect SoB are unhappy (to say the least) with the new list.. I'd be interested to hear why. Here's the 1500pt list I contemplated using, and while it's pretty unbalanced, I'd like to think it could be at least fairly effective.

Uriah Jacobus leading 10 Death Cultists in Rhino

10 Arco-flagellants

5 Arco-flagellants

10 Sisters in Rhino, 2 flamers

10 Sisters in Rhino, 2 Meltaguns

3 Penitent Engines

3 Penitent Engines

Exorcist

With the sisters there mostly to take/hold objectives, 3 combat units with feel no pain (Jacobus's in particular is pretty obscene, 5 WS6 S4 power weapon attacks per model on the charge re-rolling missed hits) and 6 penitent Engines to generally provide a threat, plus the exorcist for fire support, I think it could be effective?

That list looks reasonably effective, your missing one key point though - not enough sisters. They are pretty damn good at a close range firefight, a fact that should be exploited at every turn.

That being said, I don't want to run a sisters list, I want to run an ecclesiarchy list so i'll probably convert some counts as sisters if I ever do anything with it. But thats only because I sold my 3000pt sisters army because I was poor :(

As for the WD list itself, it seems very rushed. For example, St Celestine has pretty much just become a 1+ choice in most armies because she's so damn cheap.

Interesting to hear mate, think the only reason I'd limited the sisters is because I know the models would take me too damn long to paint, as they're so detailed... The ecclesiarchy aspect appeals more, like you say though, proxying some sister-alikes wouldn't be too difficult: maybe a fw armour mark with flagellant heads and scout arms could work... Loving the fact you can take units of 20 too. Hadn't considered celestine, but I thought Jacobus was bizarrely cheap to be honest, given his special rules.

Must admit i'd not given Jacobus a second thought until now, he might well find a place in my list now. Thinking of an army based around a fallen cardinal myself, i've got an idea for counts as sisters using dark elf warrior legs that could work......

@ El D: One word... Vandire.

@ Rise: Being a proud owner of a SoB army, I think Retributors with HBx4 + SS with Stormbolter is the way to go, as half of the time those 12 shots are Rending ;)

Dominions with TL flamers is nice, the pet hate of them before was the number of 1's I rolled to wound (having passed the roll for Divine Guidance on a 5-man unit)

Unless it gets swiftly FAQ'd the Seraphim are going to be the bane of infantry everywhere. Upgrading them to a pair of hand flamers, they are still pistol weapons, allowing you to fire both of them. This in and of itself isn't the scary-good bit.
Giving them the ability to re-roll failed wounds half the time is.
Consider the average placement of a flamer template is 4 models covered, thats 8 hits, re-rolling to wound if the Faith roll is passed. OVERKILL.

Thats just my 2 pennys, coming from the previous Codex.
