Time for a little bit of an update. No pictures as of yet, but we'll see what I can come up with in the next week... First up i've been working on a Tau Air Caste Infiltration Operative. This one will be painted in the scheme of the Stealth Suit teams in Codex: Tau Empire Armed with a Pulse Pistol, a clutch of Photon Grenades and a Prototype Optical Interdiction Field (man-portable Stealth generator) I have no statline as of yet, still need to hash that one out with a few sources. --- Next we have a Tech Priest, or possibly a Heretek. This one will be based on the Storm of Magic Chaos Sorceror Lord. Replacing the head with a Servo Skull, adding a couple of Mechadendrites and perhaps a Chainsword.. No stats for this one yet, as I just came up with the idea this afternoon in my LGS. |

Just a little update from me, proving i've not gone idle this last week. A WiP shot of my Tau Air Caste and Daemonhost. ![]() My first try at a more realistic flesh tone, using an Ogryn Flesh wash over Dheneb Stone basecoat. Still got a long way to go on these two, but I'm happy enough so far to show them off at least. |

Thats because the figure next to him is on it's knees. The FW Air Caste figures are tall and spindly, this is intentional. The Air Caste have become frail through selective breeding, a side effect of all the time spent in zero-g environments. An Imperial Guardsman comes up to his armpit, for example. Having painted most of him, it dawns on me i've painted him a little bit like Iron Man >.> (Which I was watching last night) |

I quite like the colour scheme on the Air Caste. Still not 100% sold on the daemonhost, in honesty. It doesn't really seem to strike the right tone; although I can't really explain why. It might also have gameplay implications (being so low to the ground.) Still, keen to see what you have planned next! |

Next thing on my list to show off is the Heretek, still needs a little work however. Should have the building finalised by the end of tomorrow, so there should be pics of him soon. For now i've got a first draft of a profile for the Tau. Kor'El Dalth'yr, MACO Infiltrator WS:38 BS:76 S:34 T:40 I:71 WP:56 SG:50 NV:62 LD:55 Right Handed Special Abilities: Blunt, Catfall, Hipshooting. Equipment: Pulse Pistol (w/2 reloads), 3 Photon Grenades, Prototype Optical Interdiction Field. Xeno bodyglove with armored overlay (AP2 on arms/legs, AP4 on Chest, Abdomen and Groin) (A seasoned veteran of the Guerilla wars, captured behind Imperial Lines attempting to sabotage Comms of an armored column. He now serves the Inquisition for a 'greater good') Edited by Tychonaut, 15 Aug 2011, 04:14 AM.

looking good dude, I personally like your idea of using that model as a Daemonhost not all of them have to be massively warped, give her some glowing eyes and maybe a tattoo of some kind? chaos star or sigil of binding? and your good to go. An enemy would thing shes harmless until she stares at them and melts their brain with her psychic powers ![]() Now get that Heretek posted up, I'm interested in seeing your take on one ![]() |

He's held together with blue tack right now, just as a rough guide to what he'll look like when finished. As it stands i'm in two minds about keeping the Staff as a Daemon weapon, or giving him something else. I'm looking for a decent sized Mechanicus logo to either mount on the chestplate or to cover up the belt buckle. The Tek himself, with attendant Hunter Skull. (Note the palm mounted Ether-Lash) ![]() Showing the spinal detail, and the free floating Servo Skull. ![]() From the rear, showing the armored plating around his Potentia Coil. ![]() What do people think about the Servo Skull? Great start with him. Personally I would get rid of the staff or atleast the eye part of it, unless he actually has some kind of Demon item? Clever use of Necron part as well. LvK |

As I said above, i'm tempted to keep it as a Daemon Weapon. If I don't he'll be getting one of those nifty Omnissian Axes, made from the CSM Power Axe (Luckily I have a couple of those, and the Power Claw/Fists from the same sprue) The neck joint needs a trim, the head will fit under the spinal ridge and inside the armored collar. Thanks for the comments on the Necron Torso plate. I needed to find a quick way to 40K-ify him, and 'Potentia Coil' sprung to mind. I went on the scrounge through my bitz box, and that popped up. The vents on it reminded me of an armored cowling, so I trimmed it to fit between his shoulder plates. Having done that, the section at the back of his neck looked a little empty, and i'd done the work to preserve the Necron's spine, so I used the old Dark Eldar helmet spike ridge. As you can see he's coming together nicely, just needs a little something extra to pull it all together. Paint wise i'm looking at a deep brass for the armour plates, and a grubby looking red with the cog motif trim for his robes. Pretty much 'by the book' there. As for other members of the retinue, I think I've found an Assassin. http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/senor-massacre/ Edited by Tychonaut, 16 Aug 2011, 07:19 PM.

That is cool. The back plate looks great, as does the spine. I really like the lantern things hanging from his belt. I would replace the staff top with an axe....maybe like Chaos Lord Zhufor axe. That way you get best of both...the classic weaponry of the mechanicus but with the daemon weapon aspect. I think that the haft should extend to the base. Having put that model together I think it is important to put him on an angled base too (like the one he comes with). Otherwise he is tipping back a bit. Peter Edited by PDH, 16 Aug 2011, 08:40 PM.

I like the look of him so far dude, great idea using the necron torso and old DE bits. Also like what you have done with the ether-lash too ![]() Only thing I would suggest is using head with some bionics on it one fromt he marine or guard sprues perhaps? |

The ether-lash is a part from the previous Dire Avengers sprues (also the current Guardians sprue) It needs a little bit of filing down to sit more comfortably in his palm, and intergrated with his armoured wrist. Reminds me a little of one of the Hand Devices from Stargate, and taking a little inspiration from Dark Heresy for what it will actually do.. I was thinking emulate the Impel and Gaze of Death powers. As for further Bionics, I might GS a few wires coming out of his forehead and down into the back of the collar. In the meantime i'll keep an eye out for another head, but I'm liking the head he has already. |

Bought myself a complete Court of the Archon today, have to say i'm well impressed with the models up close. After a little round of 'Cell Division' treatment, I should have the base model for an Interrogator/Death Cultist as well. Painting on Artaxis & cohorts has slowed a little due to sudden influx of Necromunda intrest in my local group. Should see more action in here shortly. |

Appologies for the double post, but I thought it was time for an update. Having come back from GD yesterday, i'm now armed with a lovely bag of goodies. I picked up: Bragg the Gutsman As per the conversation i'd had about him elsewhere, I decided to add one to my retinue. He'll be getting an Autocannon for a club, just as soon as I can get my grubby hands on one. And yes, I am mad enough to blow £22.50 on an INQ28 figure. ![]() DKoK Quartermaster This set comes with not only 1, but 3 potential retinue members. Quartermaster himself has potential as an Interrogator/Comissar, but i'll be switching the pistol arm with a sword. The Taker of Names shall be a Scribe, taking a full account of every word and bullet exchanged between the retinue and any opposition. Lastly the Magos Biologis. He'll be used as a Chirugeon. I imagine him being quite nasty with all those surgical tools. Titan Tech-Priest This is a lovely figure, just -had- to get one. The Servo Skull shall be seeing a base of it's own, and the Priest will probablly be used as it is. Give or take a few additions.. Edited by Tychonaut, 27 Sep 2011, 03:11 AM.
