Hi folks Deffberf here ![]() You Lot: After meeting you guys at Gamesday 2010 and seeing the wonderful work you done on Poisoned Chalice board I have visited here every few days for inspiration. This forum amongst all the others on the net I believe is the most progressive, creative, inspiring and thought provoking in developing the hobby. In short with a football analogy you guys are premier league! Me: Resident lurker for about 9 months! Have just picked up my paintbrush again in May after spell away doing other stuff but now back to WH40k with a passion. Previously gamed in hobby for over 20 years and with a large old collection am now interested in fishing out long lost models and pushing them together with glue and paint. This Project log is for my Imperial Guard Army the Novaris 6th Infantry Regiment "The Death Blades". Novaris 6th "The Death Blades" History from the long long ago (well a few years!): Started back in 1st edition, tanks added in second edition. Lots of fluff written for them in 2nd/3rd when I used to write my web page "The Imperial Tribune" all info lost with hardware failures. So I get to make it all up again Long and short was that the Blades were a hive gang on Novaris. Novaris was the main planet in system I used to write about in Imperial Tribune. The Novaris 6th was made up entirely of blades, as hives were large on Novaris and so were the gangs. 2005 : With the new release of Cadians for 4th edition in 2005/6 I reworked the army with all new infantry but stopped in early 2006 due to MMO video game obsession. Now with the MMO habit stopped (I didnt use the patches) im back to 40k my real love. I missed out and didnt see appocolypse or planetstrike I just shuddered when i heard of pie plates being used etc. Now though with just a few exceptions the Guard have received all new exciting plastics. Baneblades, Manticores, Valkyries etc just a few of the new things making me drool. 2010: After a short spurt last year 2010 I completed 2 Squads of veterans, 1 penal squad, some characters, a few weapon teams a sentinel and nearly completed a valkyrie. 2011: Recently I have completed some stormtroopers and a few weapon teams. Also i have built more characters, conscripts, several infantry units, a chimera conversion and 2 more rough riders. Army Completion: Mostly done, I appear to be at least over half way. Like others I want every unit for the Guard. To this end this could end up a never ending project log. Comments and Suggestions: May I humbly request you all feel free to give me your honest opinions and observations you see in any of my posts. I am no expert in any part of the hobby and from my armies history you can see I am a noob. All my submissions are given here with the express intention of giving you the forum reader pleasure in seeing more guard models. I intend no offense in the historical military organisation I have chosen to represent. I have used the white American Star, I have also converted some vehicles to look like those used in the Vietnam War. My only interest is for you all to like my little corner of the hobby. Thank you, Steve So without any more drivel: I is back and I'm motivated to see this army complete. Might I be the first person to welcome and congratulate you on choosing to post your works on our fine board, Jolly good show! Sounds like you have a good spread of figures to work with, and the first pic of painted troops looks quite good. You'll find no Fluff-nazi's here (Those are the ultra hardcore Krieg players you might find elsewhere) So all looks good on your background work. We expect great things from you, keep up the good work. Edit: The Riddick lookalike in the Penal Legion squad is genious! Edited by Tychonaut, 18 Jun 2011, 10:59 PM.

Definitely a great start to the log, some really nice ideas and well executed. Only comment on the new builds, might be the pic but the landing officer's raised arm looks odd, is he giving a side thumb gesture? arm just looks a bit straight But really liking the look of that Vet squad. this looks like its going to be one to watch. ![]() |

Nice work so far. You've got some great conversions here, they look unified enough to be from the same army, but they have the individual look of troops in the field who have 'acquired' different gear or modified their gear to help them survive. The only (minor) complaint I have is that the pics are a little blurry. I'm looking forward to seeing more. |

*** WARNING PIC HEAVY POST *** Thanks all for your kind comments and suggestions. My most humblest appologies for the blurry pics. It's been a while since i last used my camera and have forgotten how to use it like the Macro button lol. @Tchyonaut- yer mate that is Riddick, I didn't think he would be noticed. @Old Guard - Engaging Macro button now, crossing fingers and offering prayer to photo god. Proper introduction of abuse I gave my Valkyrie coming up. @Xepher- That Landing Officer is all wrong the more i look at it. I was attempting to pose him like he was guiding the Valkyrie down but its more like a Nazi salute or some gesture as you say. Not sure what to do with him but I would welcome any suggestions for him. @Chaos Wolf - That was exactly the look i had in mind for them. Im glad it came across. Several bits now... First up here is the Valkyrie proper. I was bothered by the standard build in that the wings cover up the side transport doors (in my humble opinion they are the focal points of the model) I decided to mount the wings further back so one can view this area with more ease. I also decided to go to town and install a complete interior transport area complete with full seating and support poles like seen in a huey. I also decided to jam shut the rear ramp. However I glued shut the roof too so now the only view is the side doors. These are converted to be like the "Huey A" I just cut out the door viewport and glued in large perspex panels. I would have liked to done the two smaller panes but I decided to keep it simple. The other conversion was doing a door gunner in a seated position taken from the sentinel greened up his back and legs then put Valkyrie parts on him. He's magnetised as are the weapons. Though none shown in these photos. Valkyrie still WIP - needs more paint identification etc. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Door Gunner doing the thumbs up ! ![]() ![]() Next up some heavy weapon teams re photoed. Autocannon team. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Heavy Bolter Team. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Veteran Squad rephotoed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Penal Legion rephoted. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Penal Legion Overseers detail ![]() My Favourite Penal Legion face. (This guy looks "cheesed off" or upset) lol ![]() Next time... Project Texas previously promised. The unit of 3 wound guardsmen also promised. Deff out

Some awesome stuff there! Love the veterans ![]() The posing on the heavy weapons is interesting - might work better if you move them onto a 60mm base perhaps?

New pictures really do them justice, good job! I like the tattoos on the vets, nice touch. The heavy weapon teams look good, I like the way you've made them work together. One small complaint, though-the guy holding the heavy bolter one handed doesn't look right. He looks like he's carrying a bag of apples, not a chunk of steel. Also, the middle vet in the second group of five, the fellow with the shotgun and shades, where is the shotgun from? |

Really nice Imperial marines. I like the mix between Catachan and Cadian. It makes for lifelike units. I love your in action Heavy Weapons models. Definitely something I wish I saw more often. Congratulations and a real source of inspiration. Keep them coming. |

Thanks guys for kind comments. Keeps me doing this more and more ![]() @Deserter - Glad you like the vets mate :D. I never liked the 60mm bases mini diorama. You can't put the models in some terrain pieces etc. However in the future I may well make 60 mm bases to mount the teams on. I havent played any competitive games with this army so its not been a problem yet ! @Chaos Wolf - Yer from the outset I saw the conversion possibilities for the heavy weapon teams. Ie making them look more mobile, interactive etc. Your right the guy with the Heavy bolter isnt quite correct. Its unfeasable he could carry it like that for long periods. Its one of those comical poses I get from time to time ![]() @Meleck - More heavy weapon teams to come soon - Mortars and lascannons. Missile teams squad is only just put together at moment not painted, plus these guys are a bit standard in the pose department and as such they are nothing like some others have done on here. |

I always want to customise my armies, I never seem to be satisified with the standard build. Dunno but its possibly the Ork MEK in me lol. ![]() Anyways for a long time I have wanted to make my guard transports like this... ![]() So after a couple of weeks ummming and ahhing pouring over internet pics I decided to create Project Texas - an M113 Vietnam Era AFV based on a Chimera, built to include music from the Vietnam War via an MP3 player. Speaker sits in open hatch with mp3 player inside the hull. Here's the result... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hows that did i get it ? that chimera looks awesome, good use of magnets for the dozer blade. though the rear tow hook might obstruct the rear door. that is ifn its even ment to open. but does it realy play music? |

Thanks Razor, yer the magnets now allow the Dozerblade to come off, all i got to do now is to do the next lot the same lol as I didnt bother about polarity sticking them in. ooops As for the tow hook I just followed some old m113 pics i saw on internet and yer when I put my Mp3 player in it the speaker sits on top of rear open hatch. I guess youd like to see it set up all proper like. Ill get pics up soon for that
