I`ve been playing Fantasy more or less since the early nineties and I`ve always thought that we where competetive oriented..alas I`ve "been proven wrong" by many naysayers so I present my latest draft: LORDS - 265 pts - 18% Vampire Lord - Biting Blade, -1 armour save - Flayed Hauberk, 2+ armour save - Dark Acolyte, extra magic level The Vamp Lord will be put into the Grave Guard unit. HEROES - 205 pts - 14% Wight King - BsB - Royal Banner of Strigos Necromancer - Extra spell Wight King with the Grave Guard unit. Necromancer bunkered in the Skellie unit. CORE - 431 pts - 29% 19*Skeletons w/spears & full cdo 25*Crypt Ghouls w/Ghast 5*Dire Wolfes Skeletons will be bunker for Necromancer, stay on one flank of the Grave Guard unit. Crypt Ghouls reinforced, stays on the other flank of the Grave Guard unit Dire Wolfes, to assist the Black Knights / give them cover. SPECIAL - 599 pts - 40% 6*Black Knights w/full cdo 28*Grave Guard w/full cdo - Great Weapons - Banner of the Barrows Black Knights. Can`t rid myself of this unit, it stays even with cutting the banner.. Grave Guard. Well they`re in..with the Vamp Lord and BsB and two magical banners these guys will be a tough nut - BUT should they be deployed in horde formation or standard??? 1500 POINTS IN TOTAL Opinions please ![]() R |

Looks like a good list for VC, the Grave Guard will absolutely cripple the opposition. With the BotB, you'll be hitting most standard troops on 2+ I believe. When it comes to the choice of Horde or no Horde, i'd go with 6 wide by 5 deep, so you get to fight with 12 of them against normal units (10 + the characters) and when your about to be 'charged' by a Horde, reform as movement to 10x3 and Van Hels yourself into battle. Best of both worlds

Cheers for the feedback ![]() The GGs will hit on a 3+ against WS3-6. That`s ace! But with a horde formation you`ll be able to fight with a minimum of 21. That`s just pure brutal! However, good point to change formation during the game. R |

Yes you will get more attacks out of a Horde then from a standard unit footing, but you lose manouverability and present a wider frontage, meaning a cunning opponent can Multi-Unit charge you to even the odds. Case in point here would be a unit of White Lions backed up by a Lion Chariot, or simmilar. The trick with an army like this is to present a very small overall frontage, force your opponent to bottleneck himself to get at you, then spread out like a wave crashing over him, once you've driven him out of comfortable position. Does this make any sense? |

Yeah it does, I`ve played Fantasy since the early nineties and I`m a huge "hammer & anvil"fan ![]() My plan is to have the ghouls on one side and the skellies on the other side of the GGs, then use the cav and raise dead to enforce my way and swipe them out. Simple as that really, lol (ironic, very ironic )R |
