Here we go again guys. AB will be putting on a table at gamesday again this year with a follow up to last year's Poisoned Chalice........ It seems everyone answered the call to the backwater planet; yet a discovery that had promised so much had brought only misery and pain. But too much had been spent to just walk away and the fear that someone else may succeed in securing the prize was a fear to great to ignore. They gathered their wits, checked their weapons and then descended underground and deep into the darkness... The Kill Teams had battled each other for this chance and now found themselves inside what was clearly an ancient, yet advanced craft. Far bigger than anyone had assumed and made of a material none of them understood. Fear was their constant companion; screams and gunfire echoed down each corridor and every room seemed to bring contact with another Kill Team struggling to either escape or already engaged against some deadly foe. Every shadow seemed to whisper into their souls of an even darker, more sinister fate that was waiting. Scanners seemed useless; whatever material surrounded them resulted in nothing but false echoes. But something was certain; at the centre of this web was something of great power. Everyone could feel it, everyone could sense it. All pushed on, determined to claim it as their own, either for power, profit or survival. And this is how we will be doing it. As last year, we have guys painting up fresh kill teams to descend into the heart of the ship. Rather than just one or two individuals making the playing board, we are looking to the collective talent of this forum to get involved in making a room for the ship! As you can see from the layout below, we have a number of rooms to allocate. We will provide the base piece of MDF, marked up for doorways, and will advise on such things as wall heights and overall colour scheme, but the content and look of the room would be down to you. So how do you get involved? Simple. Obviously we are looking for people who we know WILL complete their task and to a good AB standard. After all, this will be on show to a few thousand people! Ties in nicely if you are intending to partake of the anticipated necron releases later this year too...... If you are interested, you will need to PM myself or Andy (OG), with your proposal. (Do NOT post up your proposal on this thread, pm only please) This should include the room number, the proposed designation of the room (cargo bay, rest rooms, workshops etc), and an outline of how you think you'd achieve it. We will then consider each proposal and appoint contracts! At the moment, we have seven rooms allocated and the corridors are being worked up. To see previous AB gamesday projects, please look here http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/forum/3008306/ ![]() All squares on here represent 6" squares. So for example, room 4 is 12" x 18". You will be given a piece of 6mm mdf by Andy for these exact dimensions (unless you have 6mm mdf, in which case please tell him). It is VERY importand that your final model does not exceed these dimensions, ie, build on top of the board, not around it please. Been thinking about doors. These corridoor sections need to butt up to each room squarely to make sure all the rooms fit properly on the day. As we are giving you the mdf floor plate (Andy is sorting that out), we will mark precise door locations. Each will be 3" wide. The important bit is this....I will make the door sections to fit the opening. It needs to be mounted DIRECTLY onto the mdf. How you then build up the flooring inside your room is entirely up to you. Each door will measure 3½" high from the mdf, hence why this is your minimum wall height. Should your room be higher, you will need to fill the void above the door. All outside walls must be smooth and black and flush with the edge of the mdf template. I will make the door masters over the next two weeks ready to send out. I'll kick things off................. So, here's the basis for the Regen Chamber. I will be doing 8 tanks, 4 either side of a raised mezzanine, into which the Necron will have phased in and out in order to fix those more niggling injuries! To do this, I bought two packs of plastic bottles, some clear resin and a few gubbins from Hobbycraft. They will kind of look like this, the tops cut off, though with the tank filled with green liquid. The top is an inverted tank hatch and a searchlight housing. ![]() ![]() A couple of tanks will be empty, with one at least smashed. I kept the broken glass to scatter at it's base. ![]() More soon including a first look at the corridor wall panels…. So yep thats the plan! creeping around a necron ship. As Digits has mentioned we need a few willing and able people to get stuck in. I must emphasise though for anyone considering it, think long and hard about taking it on a missing room would be exceptionally bad Karma. I have the control room, the bridge, the heart of the ship ( so no pressure!), I have a couple of ideas but it still requires some thought before I launch into it. so come on then who wants a piece? |

Great project guys, really like the idea. I considered volunteering but my terrain-foo is way too weak so I shall leave it to you guys. Shall be watching with interest. Put my leave request in for games day the other day so will hopefully see you there. |

Well, need to check the date with work times obviously, but it would give me a reason to finally finish the AB kill team I started all those years ago! Edit: If someone can refresh my memory on where to look for the rules on them

Charlie - I'll have to defer to Andy on that, I wasn't involved last time but I'm sure the rules are around here somewhere! BTW - make sure they get based for on board a ship. Justedd - with luck then, noon will tell us we've done it wrong!!! Right, well it turns out a pre built monolith I bought for my lad a few years ago, fell apart! Sooooooo....I have bits to play about with. First up, the second wall panel is really very simple. ![]() And I'm going to use two of these to make door arches, and turn the others into buttresses for casting - with luck!

Very cool, especially with the Necrons in the alcoves, it's like creeping around a Borg Cube. This should be really rather cool! |
