Well, after getting the GK codex and some easter money, i immediately set out and wrote a fluffy list based on the first book of the Grey Knights omnibus which comes in at 1000 points (or a wee bit more) Inquisitor Ligeia - 43 Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with Power Armour and Power Sword I've bent the book a little here. In the book she is a psyker, but the psychic powers available to basic inquisitors arent worth the points in my opinion. So power armour and sword for her so my general can actually survive Ligeia's Death Cultists Henchmen Warband - 75 5 Death Cultists Didnt have points for the 6 that she starts with, so 5 will have to do. Squad Tancred - 285 Paladin Squad (5 Paladins) Justicar Tancred - Master Crafted Nemesis Sword Locath deVarne Karlin - Incinerator Krae The names are the first ones I pulled from the book referring to terminators, and since it doesnt tell who has what other than Karlin having an Incinerator, I left them having swords. I could have gone for normal terminators, but the book makes quite strong use of the Holocaust power, and since thats only available to Paladins, it had to be them. Squad Alaric Strike Squad (5 Knights) - 125 Justicar Alaric - Halberd Dvorn - Hammer Vien - Halberd Haulvarn - Sword Clostus - Halberd Alaric, Dvorn and Haulvarn are all armed as in the book, couldnt see any reference for Clostus or Vien, and since i quite like the +2 initiative of the Halberds, they get them. Squad Santoro Strike Squad (5 Knights) - 130 Justicar Santoro - Falchions Mykros - Incinerator Knight - Sword Knight - Sword Knight - Sword Cant remember the names of the last 3 of the the squad, and I have changed what Santoro is armed with as there isnt a mace in the box, and I would like to at least attempt a decent pose with the twin Falchions. Squad Genhain Purgation Squad (5 Knights) - 200 Justicar Genhain - Sword Tharn - Psycannon Horst - Psycannon Knight - Psycannon Knight - Psycannon Psybolt Ammunition 2 names forgotten, and I've decided that if i'm going to have a Purgation squad in the army, it would be pointless to run any less than the full 4 Psycannons, and the Psybolt Ammo makes them just that bit nastier and able to glance that armour 14 stuff Vindicare Assassin - 145 He isnt part of the book, i just want one for the hell of it then i read some of the rest of the book, and realised that for £10 extra i could have a 1500 point list with a lot more of the new stuff, but my only fear is that everyone else will be doing similar. here is the list... Kaldor Draigo - 275 Brother Captain - 170 Halberd and Psychotroke grenades Callidus Assassin - 145 5 Paladins - 375 Apothecary and Brotherhood Banner Strike Squad (5 men) - 120 Psycannon and 2 Halberds Terminator Squad (5 Man) - 225 5 Halberds and Psycannon Dreadknight - 190 Greatsword and Gatling Psilencer Draigo runs with the paladins and the brother captain runs with the termies. I know the lists are different sizes, but i just feel that although the first is the fluffy one the second looks more competetive (albeit at a large points cost). And now my problem is that i can't decide between them I dont have any of the minis yet for either, but both lists come to around £130-145, so if you can come up with a similar list for around that price and convince me I may be tempted.

i'm looking at 2 units of 5 Terminators with Halberds and a Psycannon, mounted in Storm Raven 'Uglyhawks' as the core of my GK army. Add to that 2 Purgation Squads with Psycannon, 'mounted' in the Forgeworld Razorbacks with twin-Psycannon turrets. That leaves room in the Hawks for a Librarian and Grand Master, or perhaps some other characters.. Maybe Draigo and Stern. thats of course after I finish my Dark Eldar, and get halfway through my Nids. |
