I really like the colour scheme for these guys. are you gonna be using them as a codex chapter? or using one of the angels codexes for the rules? |

codex chapter, dispite the name I think they're of Fist gene stock... partly because I only have the codex space marines, and partly cause the Land Raider Achillies over on FW looks mighty tempting... saying that though, they deviate slightly from codex in rank names and such. |

Here we go, Tactical Squad Ramiel's sergeant is done... kinda![]() All sergeants are having the quartered badge on le left knee, weapon carriers (special/heavy) are having a halfed badge there. ![]() Need to work on that chapter badge, perhaps do the wings like the bolt, in white first, then the black. ![]() I've swapped the colours on the backpack from the test figure to this one. Think it balances out better. ![]() - With him done, it's onto the rest of the squad, ![]() in my usual strange fashion, paint in bits, three at a time. - As for the Chapter, I'm building the fluff, but could do with a little help. While they are decended from the Fists, their name was chason when the Emeror's Tarot told them to 'look to the natives' for the name. The natives of the feral world they had been set up to recruit from revered the moon of Indran, where the new chapter was based, as their god looking down on them. As the Chapter was being set up a small splinter of a Tyranid fleet drifted into the sector and a few broods landed on the planet. The natived manged to fight a few of them, but were simple men against an ailen menace and called to their god to send them deliverance. He sent angels, decending from Indran upon firey wings to slay the chittering deamons. As the chapter master heard the natives celebrating the angels, he knew what the tarot had been telling him, and the chapter was named the 'Angels of Indran'. So, dispite not being from any of the Angels chapters they have a slight codex deviation with their naming and colour schemes, each section in the chapter named for a rank in the hierachy of angels. - my problem is, do I pick hamfistedly from a number of angel ranks? Or do I go with another idea and map the ranks of the chapter along the Kabbalistic Tree of Life? any thoughts whould be appreciated. cheers guys. Edited by Razorwind1101, 15 Mar 2011, 10:00 PM.

If you went Kabbalistic, which would you rank it by, Choir or Sephirot? Choir would work out like this from highest to lowest: Chayot Ha Kadesh, Ophanim, Erelim, Hashmallim, Seraphim, Malakhim, Elohim, Bene Elohim, Cherubim, Ishim Whereas Sephirot from highest to lowest would be: Keter, Chokmah, Binah, Chesed, Gevurah, Tipheret, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, Malkuth. I personally prefer using Choir, and you can even use Archangel names to represent some of the characters. Edited by Mawa, 16 Mar 2011, 01:53 AM.

true, though ranking it by Sephirot kinda had an interesting thing pop into my head. Keter is pretty much God, the angel of that Sephirot is Metatron, aka the voice of god, convert that to 40k, we get The Emperor and A title for the head chaplain ![]() just a thought that sounded good in my head... either way I'll probably call the head chaplain Metatron. choir wise, I kinda don't want to have someone ranked as Cherubium, just brings to mind a flight of putti, and inquisitors already have plenty of those flying about. decisions decisions... I'm already apropriating a few angel names for squads, have Tactical Squads Remiel and Sariel planned out... they are angels of the Powers I think... [[EDIT]] Though having another quick look around the kabbala, the chief librarian is DEFINATELY getting named Raziel. Edited by Razorwind1101, 16 Mar 2011, 02:31 AM.

Think I will go by choirs, but will consider the sephirot each choir represents. Raziel partly because he reprisents the sephirot of Chokhmah, sephirot of wisdom, and he himself is known as "Keeper of Secrets" and the "Angel of Mysteries." and seemed to have a lot of association with a book that kept yo-yo-ing between adam, angels and the bottom of the sea. also I like Soul Reaver reading the page gave me a librarian vibe... admitedly a dark angel libarian vibe, but a librarian vibe nonetheless. so, if the librarum is Ophan/Chokhmah the other sephirot at that level goes to the chapter mater/martial HQ choices, as the associated Choir Erelim, while usualy called thrones actually translates to 'valiant ones', 'heroes' or 'warriors'. fitting no? hurrah, I'm getting a handle on my chapter at long last. Sounds like a good idea to me. To be honest I was hoping you would reply mentioning Soul Reaver as I am a massive fan of the series since playing Blood Omen back in 97. You have to arm Raziel with some kind of Sword though ![]() |

heh, yeah... might put him in a dreadnought having died and come back, lol. I do have a cool sword floating around my bitz box that was going to be a sorceror's sword, but should work well enough for a librarian. dammit, gotta go watch the soul reaver intro again now. |

All this angel, kabbalistic stuff is beyond me, but the marine looks good. I've always been a fan of quartered schemes (although never liked painting them, too many straight lines!) and yours has come out well. Looking forward to seeing more, the librarian sounds promising - with the fluff it sounds like some interesting modelling opportunities. |

considering the points carried over to next month, I should have enough for an HQ... and I found that empire greatswords have ones with flamberge.. I smell Librarian conversion time ^__^ got the red and the stone done on the three marines, just got washes, black, gold and detail to go. |

I'm with BYT: thoroughly lost. . . Scheme looks nice, though I will say you need a better colour for the eyes. Red on red. . . not the best idea. Dave out. |

alrighty then. cheers man. hokay, first 3rd of the marines for squad Ramiel done. ![]() guy on the right has aquired the name Brother Pious, not sure why, but hey, is cool. at Dave's suggestion i've done the lenses green, looks great, thanks man. ![]() changed the tactical mark a touch, with the black and granite. note the little bits of writing on the pads for Brother Pious and the middle guy. ![]() guy on the left has writing on the flat panel of his backpack. ![]() getting better at the chaper symbol. the grey on white is working nicely and i've tweaked the wing design. right, that's three down, 6 to go. ifn i can get them finished by the end of next week i can enter them in a competition at my local GW store. anyways, tell me what you think. How are you painting your white? I only ask because it looks a little thick. Believe me I know how much of a pain in the [arse] colour it is to paint, but using an ice blue or astromican grey base should allow you to get a thinner more even layer. |

The green eyes are an improvement. As Charlie says, the paint's looking a bit thick in places, mix a bit of water into it on a tile or palette and it'll give a much smoother finish, as a general rule of thumb its better to have a couple of thin layers that one thick one. In fact for a scheme of this colour you may even want to consider a white undercoat. When taking photos I'd also try and get the light source coming from behind the camera so we can see the details a bit clearer, their being lost in the shade a touch and hiding your hard work.
