Hey there! I'm new to this site and would love to here your opinions and (constructive) criticism of my miniatures. I'll be posting on an odd basis due to uni project work, but I'll try and keep things up.

So below we have the two Dwarf Warriors I have painted so far (these are like... the second and third models I've painted).

Dwarf Warrior with a massive two handed axe and a tankard.

Dwarf Warrior with a standard... i think? if it's something else please do inform :D

Cheers!

Pretty good Thovius. At first glance it looks like the only bits we can help you with are taking pictures... :P

A piece of parchment paper or scrim cloth over the light will take some of the shine out of your pictures and make the metal show a bit better... I would have ran with Blazing orange in the red beard instead of pink but these are really looking good.

Thanks very much for the photography tip! I'll bare that in mind for future posts. Also I assume you mean the highlights being pink? I used a mix of blazing orange and skull white for those horrible highlights, I guess it's the camera work making it look more pink than a lighter shade of orange :P I'll try and tweak them! Cheers :D

Well in that case.. :P Cam's can sometimes be funny till you figure out how to fix them up...

How many you have painted? How many do you have planned?

Thanks for the comments chaps! So far these are the only ones I've got painted, but they're from a Dwarf Warrior set which contains 16 models, so that's 14 more to do. Also I have a couple odd Dwarf models I got when i was much younger, those being 1 Dwarf Hammerer, 1 Iron breaker and a Dwarven Flame cannon (+1 crew member? no idea where the other is).

I've also painted a Tau Crisis suit which I'll post below :)
Here's the Crisis Suit I previously mentioned.

Thanks Dave! I had previously painted some pathfinders using... D: regular acrylics, and as you can imagen they're pretty foul to look at.

In theory the Crisis Suit was my first model painted with the citadel paints/brushes/etc - so my first proper model :D

First of all welcome to the AB dude :)

great first batch of models, these guys are really good considering they are some of your first. Particularly like the crisis suit, very neat highlights and the free hand Tau symbol on his back is very nicely done.

looking forward to seeing more of the dwarves

Wow, thats a really nice orange. The bone and the white are very solid. Great work there! (I always have trouble with that!) And the slight splash of red is a nice touch too.
Great hand painted symbol on the backpack too.

Was just wondering, do people think I should post developement shots? or just finalised pieces? :D I guess with the WIP shots people could give advice
My next model undercoated in Chaos Black spray, I added the horns and faceplate which I think give it a little something extra :D
Currently held together with blu-tac for photography purposes.

Also I cut off the original rune on the mace and put on a far larger one which makes the weapon look like it's got more movement.

Today I took apart and filed the superglue off my Dwarven flame cannon, I'm considering purchasing a base for it? Any suggestions as to what size/shape I could get? :)

Also I'm kind of helping my brother out with his Ghazghkull Thraka model, seriously cool piece of kit but it required ALOT of filing down for some of the pieces to fit together - Today I helped him do the base!

It's been an intense weekend with my uni project, however I've managed to get my third Dwarf finished, as you can probably see, he's the commander :D

I'm hoping to enter the February competition with this, but for now here's some WIP, it's a kroot carnivore. So far I've chopped the legs up and re-adjusted them into a crouching position :)

Nice work on the Kroot conversion. Looks good.

Am liking the dwarves too. I'd say go for a square base for the flame-cannon. Probably about the size of 2 or 3 cavalry bases joined together by the long side.

Cheers guys! I got myself a chariot basev for the cannon, it's a wee bit bigger than the canon itself, but i think if i base it nicely it should look pretty good!
More progress on my comp entry!
