A lack of Dark Eldar love (aside from all the plogs- mine might be up shortly) has led me to create a thread focussing on what we think are the highlights of the new codex, and what should be left well alone. So, for me the things worth considering are the Talos and Chronos, the voidraven bomber, and scourges. I'll be avoiding trueborn and Hellions like my life depends on it. So what do you think? |

Well the flyers seem to be very dependent on luck based on the battle reports I'm reading. Talos and Cronos seem to be good at attracting fire and still being able to deal damage. Scourges depend on the build. Whereas I'm definitely going with Trueborn with splinter goodness to go with the Duke and a Hellion unit to act as a very distracting flanking unit. |

As a long time player of Craftworld Eldar, i'll be bringing that forward to my Dark Eldar. Good Things: Talos/Chronos: As an analog to the Wraithlord, these things will put a dent in the enemy battleline. Oh, and Spirit Vortex is a Must-by for a Chronos, Who doesn't love a S3 pain-inducing Battle Cannon? Hekatrix Bloodbrides: Treat these as Banshees, except Combat Drugs > Power Weapons if you ask me, as S4 combat drugs can be very tasty (S5 with Furious Charge, yeouch!) 9 is the magic number with Bloodbrides, as you can use them as a bodyguard unit without giving up any upgrades. My personal loadout for these are: 1. Duke Sliscus with 9 Brides, 3 x Hydra Gauntlets, Haywire Grenades, Syren with Power Weapon, Blast Pistol and Phantasm Grenade Launcher 2 Lelith Hesperax with 9 Brides, 3 x Shardnet & Impaler, Haywire Grenades, Syren with Power Weapon, Blast Pistol and Phantasm Grenade Launcher Incubi: The awesomeness of Striking Scorpions, suddenly handed Power Weapons.. You want some, a lot. Kabalite Trueborn: 4 of these with Blasters, mounted in a Venom (room for a character here too, probably a Haemonculous with Hexrifle) These will handle pretty much the same as a unit of Fire Dragons, except you never have to leave the Venom. Having said this, it's a FoC slot better spent on Bloodbrides or Incubi. Bad Things: (In my opinion that is) The Flyers: All mouth, no spiky armored hot pants.. The Void Mine is nice however. Too much of an 'all your eggs' unit, you either fully load them with missiles and risk losing the points Turn1, or take the stock option and leave yourself feeling undergunned. Grotesques: Bullet Magnets and nothing more, even if they do come with Feel No Pain from the get-go. You have to give them an accompanying independant character, or they might rampage (unnecessary point-sink) Hellions: Fighting for the same FoC slot as Reavers or Scourges, there really isn't a contest. The only exception is if you include The Green Goblin (Baron Sarthonyx) |
