Gents,

I'm looking to remove the paint from my Valkyrie and don't fancy coughing up for 15 ltrs of brake fluid. Is Fairy Power Spray (FSP from now on) any good if a model has been varnished with citadel satin varnish? I use the satin to lock in the decals and weathering stages so the beast has has two thin coats of the stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah should do the trick fine. It's taken dull coat off my minis along with the paint, I'd be lost without it.

To those that use it. Do you soak or spray, leave and wipe?

I put the minis in an old ice cream tub, spray the models so that they are well covered then whack the top on and leave them for half an hour or longer. Then just get an old tooth brush and scrub them, the paint goes all rubber like and comes off pretty easy. Once the paint is off just give them a quick rinse and they'll be as good as new.

You don't need to soak them though.

spray and scrub is my preferred method, wastes a fair bit of FPS though

Sorry for my ignorance here, but what is Fairy Power Spray and will it remove primer as well? I ask as I've got some guardsmen I want to strip.

It is a cleaning spray you can buy in the UK. I believe in the US&A something similar would be "simple green".

it will certainly make a good run of primer, brake fluid (dot 4) works a lot better on primer though

I found this yesterday, and tried it this morning.

Fantastic at last i have found something that takes paint off without melting the plastic. Oh well I have lots of re-painting to do now.

Might be worth checking to see if you have any ex-pat british stores online in Oz mate. I've seen a few that cater to english immigrants that miss the old english products in the past.
Something like this:

This stuff just sounds so much better than the American simple green. When i soaked my models in sg, for nearly a month, it still failed to get all the paint off.
I may have to invest overseas for some of this!
