”We have rounded up the villagers as you ordered Milord” Duc Jehan Beauvais turned slightly towards the reporting footsoldier, eyeing the man down from his destrier. After an awkward moment of silence he nodded to man to continue his report. “Dem is just ordinary people, Milord. Told us that village priest, a Sigmarite dem says, ran off with few village elders just yesterday, as the news of our…. errm, visit to the previous village reached here.” Duc Jehan sighed heavily, that much was already to be expected. Of course he could send few of his outriders with fresh horses, accompanied by his noble hunting hounds to give a chase but why bother to divide his small fighting force. Probably the Imperial state troopers would still take a week or two to appear on this disputed border region of Bretonnia and Empire and by then he would have led his troops back to his home castle from this small winter chevauchée of his. There would be still enough time, though, to pay visit a village or two and show those ignorant peasants who their true liege lord is. Of course he would be forced to levy some taxes and perhaps also to do some justice… just to show these ragged pitiful excuses of human beings who they should fear and revere. “Burn the Sigmarite chapel down and take every tenth villager as our protégées… no need to chain them, though. They won’t be foolish enough to run away from our protection” Duc mused, more to himself as to a soldier, who already was dashing back towards the village from the small knot of hill overlooking the ten or so shabby buildings that formed the village of Fichtenwald, newest addition to dukedom Jehan Beauvois de Montpest, dispenser of despair and ever loyal servant of Nurgle. * * * Well that is the fluffy part for one of my projects, the Plague host of Duc Jehan Beauvois de Montpest. Original idea behind this was a Bretonnian noble, corrupted by ruinous powers (especially by Nurgle) who basicly fell down from the grace of Lady of the Lake due to his vanity. As time went by his good looks were gone and he was even turned into a demon prince for the services rendered. Many of his followers gone he has started to collect more troops and forces from neighbouring areas. Of course he still thinks he's all noble and full of chivalry but his actions, naturally, betray him. His hunting hounds are actually Chaos hounds, huntsmen are basicly Marauders etc. Well, haven't got the recent copy of Armybook so this project is quite on hold for a time being. Back in the old book everything was supposed to be in numbers 7, 14 and 21 (the Nurgle's number on 40K side of things). Cheers for looking, LvK |

It is a nice and alternative way of doing a chaos force. Will you mix chaos knights and bretonian knights? That would be better for your story and your fluff

Yes, that's the idea. Some of the loyal household vassals still in the service so those would have more Bretonnian appearance where as then some new knights would be perhaps followers of ruinous powers from North. Also men-at-arms should have some evidence of Chaos taint, even if they are local people, I think. |

Well I should make the lord the most tainted. But still wearing his original colors. Then the most loyal followers having small sings of chaos corruption, but still less then the lord. The peasant, should just wear the colors of their lord. But without the signs of the taint... The Grail relic bearers should go with a rotten corps or something like that, it would be something original. |

I think its a really good idea. Possibly use green stuff or chaos bits on pegasus knights and king louen on hippogriff. |

The peasants could be the types one would encounter in numbers in the county of Mousillon so maybe some zombie and ghoul bits mixed in with normal Bretonnian bits. The plastic spawn bits could be used to enhance the pegasus and hippogriff... or vice versa, if I use the Chaos list instead of Bretonnain one in the end. |
