Just some basic fluff for my soon to be Codex: Space Marines force. Chapter Name: The Brotherhood of Dorn. Founding Date: 989.M41 Gene-Seed Origin: Imperial Fists. (Via Black Templars) 989.M41 Saw the devastation of the Crimson Fists Space Marine Chapter, their numbers all but obliterated during the Orkoid warlord Snagrod's Waaagh! into the Loki sector, although the chapter survived, it was and is still a shadow of it's former self, as not only was the chapter devastated, but many of the potential canidates for recruitment also. To one of the Black Templar fighting companies in the Ferrum Crusade, the Crimson Fists story struck deep, as they too had weathered similar decimation. The Ferrum Crusade reduced to a crawling pace in comparison to others for several decades as seeming punishment for their commanders rash action when facing the near overwhelming firepower of the Tau. Forced to consolidate and wait for the trickle of neophytes to become a worthy force of fully fledged initiates, before the Crusade could begin anew, with Marshal Ferrum greatly humbled. The combined bond of blood and empathy moved some of the members of the fighting company under the command of Abbas Iratus Gray, the crusades master of sanctity, to make an unusual, but understandable request of their Marshal. From that moment forth, roughly half of Gray's fighting company were known as The Knights of Dorn, swearing to fight as Guilleman's codex decreed, and to endure the plight of the Crimson Fists, and actively aid them if able, until the Chapter was whole again. And then, and only then could they rejoin their Templar brethren. This 'exile' was allowed only under the strict condition that, should a Templar force require them while they were not in active defense of the Crimson Fists or the Loki sector, that they would send a portion of their forces to fight under the Templar commander at their old ranks, while following the doctrine of the Black Templars for the duration of the conflict. A short time after its founding this almost insignificant chapter recieved petitions from small elements of other chapters who bore the Imperial Fists gene seed, ranging from whole squads to their solitary survivors, to join out of empathy for the Crimson Fist's plight, or out of respect for their abilty to survive such punishment. Some chapters who could not spare any marines sent needed equipment, although none would ever impune the hounor of the Crimson Fists by trying to pledge themselves or donate to the chapter directly, The Knights of Dorn provided the possibilty to aid their gene brothers. Most of the 'recruits' mainly those of larger squads joined under a similar condition to the Templar founders, that once the Crimson Fists were at peak strength, they would rejoin their own Chapters, and would also be exempt from fighting under Templar doctrine when the founding members were called upon to do so. After a decade of such requests in 999.M41 the Chapter changed its name to The Brotherhood of Dorn. The influx of such members was a twinfold blessing, it boosted the numbers of the chapter to a functional strength, while also providing previously unused equipment and training to the founding Templars. The majority of the chapter are currently fighting under Templar doctrine, at the request of Marshal Ferrum, while the rest of the chapter is garrisoned in the Loki sector, awaiting the return of the Orkoid menace or another threat to the rebuilding of the Crimson Fists Chapter. As befitting their ad-hoc nature of recruitment, it is not uncommon for the brothers of the chapter, while adering to The Brotherhood's own coulors, to display their original chapters symbols, although the most common mix has become the Imperial and Crimson Fists, as well as that of the Templar. And it is in fact common to see one squad displaying all three while having their origional chapters emblem painted brighter or larger. Being all volunteers, the occasional infighting that occurs when Chapters fight together is non existant, replaced by only friendly rivalry. Edited by Roesor, 9 Jul 2010, 08:36 PM.

An very original and well written piece of fluff. Something you don't see very much, which makes it even better. |

Bearing in mind Pedro makes the sternguard scoring units, should make for a halfway decent objective army.
