I thought so as well, soon as i finish the 'blocking out' and highlights, the whole figure is getting a Badass Black wash to tone it all down/blend it together.

Just need to work out how to paint Pristine White Armour, and liquid vials/flasks.

First up i've got the finished product pictures of my Assassin

In other news...

Thats right, i've jumped on the bandwagon, sort of..

I've decided to paint a few boxes of Wyches, as a test of my newly rekindled skills. But we all know it's not going to end there ;)

Also a friend of mine wanted a unique idea for a Lady Malyce, which I just so happened to be working on in my head.
He supplied the parts, and i've offered the talent. Here's a few Work in Progress shots:

I envision her looking like some Ninja/Geisha/assassin, posed dynamically in mid-flying kick

The right hand will be rotated up at the wrist, and i'll be making a Bladed Fan as her other weapon.
Since the pictures were taken, i've removed the power cell from the sword.

What do we think so far?

C + C welcome, as always

The green and white on your assassin are very well done.
Lady Malyce looks cool. If shes what I think shes supposed to look like, then the pose is a nice dynamic change.

Hmmm something looks odd on the Assassins head, though I cant put my finger on what :( Ace Model though.

Love the Lady Malys pose, Flying kicks are a nightmare to pose but yours looks good!

The eye socket around the bionic eye (his left) is black on purpose, the angle of the picture makes it look like a painting mistake, if thats what you mean. The lens needs work, but I will revisit it at another time.

Malyce is based on the awesome looking 'Raider Rider' with a Wych head, Hekatrix Power weapon arm, and soon to be a bladed fan made from 4 Kabalite Warrior blades.
The leaping part was already done, just had to find an arm that followed the same 'flow'

Cool looking conversion. Perhaps do some kind of glowing around the swords and chest once its ready to paint?

Thanks for the comments guys

@ Gun Drone: My Tyranids aren't finished yet, the player insisted I used them as they are, and he paid for it..

@ DaCone: This incarnation of Malys is not actually mine, I just volunteered to build one. Might have to duplicate it at a later date for myself.

Now for some pictures of the finished Malys

The bladed fan was a real pain, but it wouldn't be Malys without it.

Now it's finished I have to hand it over :(
Will have to ask if I can take a few snaps when it's painted.

Well, might as well make another for yourself. :) The bladed fan looks like a cool little conversion too. Interesting though.

Since my last post i've been invited to take part in a 2500 point x 6 player Apocalypse scale game at my local gaming club.
I'll be using my Eldar, and this means I have a 500 point defecit to make up.

I went for the easiest way I could, using the models I had to hand.

10 Dire Avengers, with Exarch, pw & ss, bladestorm.
Wave Serpent, twin shuriken cannon turret, spirit stones, star engines.

10 Dire Avengers, with Exarch, pw & ss, bladestorm.

This means I will have 40 Avengers to work with, all mounted in Skimmer goodness.

Only trouble with that is, I have between now and Sunday morning to paint them all >.> lets see if I make it in time.

Edit: Pictures will be added after Sunday, showing what I call 'Tabletop Standard'

Very nice, the armour is a lovely colour. I might be tempted to chuck a wash over the cloak to tone it all down a bit but overall, good effect.

My Space Wolves Blue-Grey recipe is a little long winded, but it comes out smoothly enough.

Hand painted Chaos Black basecoat, 3 thinned out layers of 1:1 paint/water
Shadow Grey , initial coat & a drybrush to add a little texture.
Space Wolves Grey, 1 thin coat.
Hormagaunt Purple glaze.
Space Wolves Grey drybrush
Badab Black inking
Space Wolves Grey drybrush.

thats 10 processes, but you can see it's worth it (some might say overly complicated) ;)

Out of curiosity, did you get the Dire Avengers finished in time?

Not exactly..

I got them to tabletop standard, but I kinda cheated. I used the Ulthwe scheme of Black, Bone and red.
15 had been painted before, and managed to get that to 25 in the 2 days I had. no pics of them yet, the project is on hold for my new playthings.

Dark Eldar!

After todays spending spree, so far I have:

Duke Sliscus
9 Hekatrix Bloodbrides
10 Kabalite Warriors
10 Wyches
5 Incubi
2 Raiders
6 Reaver Jetbikes
1 Venom (WiP)
1 Chronos Parasite Engine (WiP)

and 2 Webway Portal Templates :P

I'm looking at the Kabal of the Obsidian Rose with great intrest. Maybe, just maybe..

The Reaver helms are being used symbolicly, appearing as the 'Veiled Brides' of Sliscus (His personal Harem)
I thought it's a good way to differentiate between a Bloodbride and normal Wyches.

Camera died in taking these, waiting for it to charge before I show off the Syren and Sliscus Himself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls.. Killing Times Here!

My sincerest appologies for the lack of promised mock-up work, i've been a little busy.
So without further excuse, I give you the first few shots of the Chronos!
(and a sneak peek in to my diseased imagination, for surely this is the work of madness)

Still just a mockup, but I have a list of the work left to do:

The pile of corpses will be cleaned up, smoothed out a little and allowed to hang more naturally.

The riblike claws will stick out from between the Necron 'jets' on the sides, and a cluster of Daemonette claws will hang down from beneath the beast.

I have a pair of small engines from the Forge World Resin Wave Serpent kit, they will be going on the blank areas on the back of the dish, mounts for them built up in greenstuff.

So then, what do we all think... Is it creepy enough?

Next up we have the Syren for my Bloodbrides, armed with Blast Pistol, Power Weapon and Phantasm Grenade Launcher.

I love the dynamic posing of the Wyches, one of the nicest lines GW have ever produced. :)

Lastly for today, I have my Duke Sliscus.

Since these were taken, Sliscus has seen paint (He will be the tester figure for the army)
C+C welcome, as always.

Hope you enjoyed the glimpse into my own brand of madness. ;)

Thats all for today, and probablly before the New Year (Party season is here, and I've been invited to a 72 hour marathon session)

It looks good, the Chronos. I don't know what its supposed to be, but it looks cool.
And the Syren looks cool, nice and dynamic.
The duke is awesome, though he seems to have 3 knives? :)

The Chronos is a Monsterous Creature simmilar to a Talos, but it has a S3 Battle Cannon strapped to it's back.. And any kill it makes will make it or a unit nearby stronger.

I armed my Sliscus this way because I could always use him as a standard Archon, with Blast Pistol & Husk Blade.
(and the rule of cool, don't forget)

This smells a little stale in here, getting a little close to a..

Necroposting
(Yes I know, you can't Necropost your own thread)

Well where do I begin, oh yes, straight to the goodies..
Duke Sliscus, freshly painted for this months BoB submissions.

I've gone for the unhealty oily skinned 'Romulan look' for my Dark Eldar, Sliscus has turned out looking like a
Captain Nero from the Modern Star Trek movie.

With the Dukes love of Combat Drugs, those orange cylinders on his belt, and the storage tanks and feeder tubes on his armor
represent that nicely. All the other infantry of the army will be fitted with them too ;)

And the aforementioned Entry, Sliscus and his Raider

Up next for me is a unit of Hekatrix Bloodbrides and a Reaver Jetbike or two.
Next Commission is a Hell Pit Abomination for a friends Skaven.

C + C welcome, let me know what you think?
