Any tricks for beating those poncy, girly legged, pointed eared wee...... nyaffs!!

Got shot to pieces last time and one unit failed their leadership and half the army bottled it. By the time i stopped most of them running I had lost.

get into combat. yes they hit first, but only White Lions/Swordmasters hit hard when they get charged. Phoenix Guard tend not to die from anything in large amounts, so just stick them in place with a unit of gnoblars, bearing in mind phoenix guard cause fear.

in combat they all have crap armour (apart from the Phoenix Guard with that very inventive special rule '4+ ward save') so they're quite squishy.

It really depends what you take and what your oponent takes. My High Elves get thumped regularly but I've never played against Ogres, so I know how to do damage, just not what you have that can do the damage.

I think it would have gone differently if I had got into combat, all my ogres do 3 attacks each, 4 if i use the 2 hand weapons.

I can also pop a gorger (once he is finished) up behind them to distract their shooting.
All my units cause fear so I had hoped to make a few run, but they all passed. Including when I used braingobbler to cause panic tests.

combat is definitely the way to go for Ogres, as Leadbelchers arent brilliant and the scrapwaggon or whatever its called is probably better charging into combat.
looking at the army book, a skrag army list looks quite fun to play and would give High Elves all sorts of problems, especially as all Orgres are faster then elves. you would just have to watch out for Eagles and reavers march blocking you whilst they riddle you with bolt thrower rounds.

I would use some gnoblars, they can screen your more expensive ogres from shooting.

You can also use some small units of bulls to distract the shooting and let the bigger boys do the job.
