I have some how got involved in a debate, has fenris got an IG regiment raised from it. I believe not, he believes so and says that he has heard of fluff which backs this up. As far as I know its a feral world where savages live, their greatest warriors are inducted into the space wolves and life continues. Can you help me present damning evidence in my favour or at least discuss it and I shall direct him here.Cheers guys. |

There is no reason why not. Though many of the men and women of Fenris are great warriors from a very feral background, once they reach their teens they are of little use to a space marine chapter. As a marine home-world Fenris will likely be in a low tithe band, so the planet is not required to raise much in the way of Imperial Guard regiments but the inhabitants would probably be happy to go off and kick arse in the name of the Emperor. Dave out. |

I would think that every imperial planet has a PDF. Sometimes the space marines aren't in the neighborhood and you have to keep an eye on the planets safety. So I think it Fenris got an guard regiment. |

It was me he was arguing with and you have no idea how glad I am that others think it is at the least workable fluff. It’s my intention after I do my space wolves to do an IG army (though it will be a good way off) and I wanted them to be from Fenris. |

But if you read the fluff the wolves themselves guard the planet, hence when that meteor with the thousand sons hit the planet, it was the wolves who dealt with it. As far as I recall there is always at least one great company stationed on the planet. Edited by Varas Mortez, 5 Apr 2010, 12:00 AM.

One Great Company is not a whole lot when we're talking about an entire planet, and Marines aren't built for static defense in the first place. Besides, why not? |

Indeed, one great company isn't that much. So I think that they will be their, but not that present, the wolves get the glory. |

As a chapter world, they don't have to provide any guard regiments at all. However, considering it is a warrior planet it would make sense for those not quite up to the grade as marines would volunteer for guard service. |

Failed initiates who didnt die, ye they could make up the guard, but i wouldnt think there would be that many per year. The selection of candidates wasnt exactly huge from the fluff that was read. |

Failed initiates* tend to become chapter serfs, who get all the "non-astartes pay-grade" jobs like preparing food, maintaining the fortress monastery, crewing ships and so on. Most chapters maintain groups of military trained serfs, who get training on par with Storm Troopers, to fight during boarding actions or back up initial punch of their astartes masters in a surface war. Dave out. *By this I mean locals who made the cut to become astartes but had to be removed from the training program; usually due to physical or psychological reaction to some part of the initiation process and organ implantation. |
