Welcome to my terrain topic! In here you'll find the things I'll build and hope to sell to the happy bidder. Let's start off with something eldar. It's based on a easter egg full of chocolates, which unfortunately for you have all been eaten. It's not done yet, but it's starting to take shape. Now the important stuff you all came for: Pictures! ![]() ![]() ![]() More pics later today. Commends and especially critics welcome. Lord Ok |

Hah! Looks like a great start for an Eldar building. I'd be too tempted to put a bunch of fake fishtank plants in that clear dome though. Mini biodome! What environment will it be? I'm sure other members will be curious to know this. Desert, tundra, etc. etc. |

Thanks for all the comments. A mini biodome would be cool! Unfortunately the inside of the egg isn't as nice to see as the outside. As for the environment,.. I really don't know. Maybe some neutral wastelands, I think I'll need to start a poll. I engraved the panel lines in the plasticard using this sculpting tool and a ruler: Just use the hook to score out a line, you can probably use some other simi-sharp tool. ![]() Now some more pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() I need to give the building a more Eldar feel, but what to build? here are some options: Option 1: A small wrightbone blending in with the plastic trim. ![]() Option 2: A bigger wrightbone above the front door. ![]() Option 3: A wrightbone and a large gemstone laid in the rocks. (maybe the gemstone should be swapped for a fountain?) ![]() Option 4: Just the huge gemstone in the rocks (could be a combo with option 1 or 2.) ![]() As for gemstones, I tried to make some from plastic nails. I had to fill the dent in the middle, it's not as smooth as I wanted. I probably need to borrow some of my mom's beads. ![]() A lot of options and questions, what do you guys think? Lord Ok |

I would go for option 1 and a fountain. It looks already very eldarish. |

Nice idea for Eldar themed terrain, I too would go with option 1. |

Updates! It is still very WIP, I'm struggling to get the wrightbones smooth. As for the environment: I got two options. I thought I let the internet (you) decide. 1 green hills on a sunny day. 2 Mud and melting snow on the first day of spring. ![]() ![]() Lord Ok |

I vote for the mud and snow. It will be much more interesting! And to be honest that red stuff that you've put on the sides looks very nice... Have you considered making this a red, Mars-like enviroment? Would be cool too... |

I've got more work done, It's starting to take shape. I still need to go over the white clay using my terracotta mix, as well as glue sand to all the open spots. One problem I have is getting the wrightbone smooth, I've been filling and sanding for ages. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() C&C welcome. Lord Ok |

I don't know what to do with those wraithbones, but for the environment, I would go for red rocks with mud and snow around. Keep it coming

Try to find really fie sand paper like 250 or even more. If you can't try a nail fillers this glass ones, or sometimes you can find some kind of things for polishing nails. It is a set of smoother fillers etc. After that you can try to smooth it with some wool. It works with wood... |

how are you smoothing the filler onto the wraithbone? use a bit of plasticard with a curved edge to it, once its hard carve away the lumpy bits, sand it so the majority of it is smooth, repeat. takes a few layers but you get an awesome finish in the end. |

Got a little further with the building yesterday. The wrightbone is done by adding layers of filler and sanding on a flat surface. It's not perfect, the cracks are nice to paint up as damage/weathering. All what is left to do is add sand to the base and blend the building into the rocks using some clay. ![]() ![]() ![]() I am going to try to "airbrush" the dome as a shiny dark blue gem. But I don't know whether I can pull that off good enough, since my "airbrush" is one with those propellant cans. My plan B would be bone with weathering on it. Lord Ok Paint, pictures and updates. Anything else you want? ![]() ![]() ![]() C&C welcome. Lord Ok Edited by Lord Ok, 23 May 2010, 12:12 PM.

Maybe it is a little to white. Buildings get dirty pretty quick. Also, some stripes and such on it, would look good and more like an eldar building. |

oh.. I forgot to mention it is still WIP, The gems will be red and I'm planning to use some oil-paints for the weathering. Maybe I'll also try some freehand eldar symbols on the door. Lord Ok |
