But how do the rules for the FW drop pod differ from the regular one?

probably have the assault vehicle rule like Land Raiders, which normal pods dont have.

are you asking them "can i use a special drop pod?" or are you asking them "can i use IA number...?"

people might be more likely to accept it if you just ask about IT whatever rather than teh uber cool drop pod of assaultyness

Not as much cover as the red mist of my dying foes as they are pulped into dreadnought bread flavoured food fluid! O.o
Anyhoo, whatevers shooting can usually just move. The best defense is an all out assault. Your enemy cannot shoot you if you cut their arms off.

I suppose I could talk my way into using one, but I do not wish to rely on something I can't use in any official gaming capacity.
And they differ in the sense that they can only carry Dreadnoughts, have three doors and allow them to assault.

Then it's a case of dropping other things with them for your opponent to worry about. If you dropped ten Tac Marines with them then your opponent suddenly has to either concentrate fire on one or split fire between them both reducing the effect on either. If you just drop a Dread out of a pod on it's own I can see how it'd be lonely.

I know, I was going to have a few myself but after assembling the one I have I think I will hold off on that idea.

It doesn't help I have fingers like pigs nipples.

When I assembled mine it took so long I got sleepy and burnt a hole in my shirt after accidently tipping superglue on myself. And it was far to much effort for something I only use once a match and it keeps falling apart AND without some MAJOR modifications, I can't fit it in my case, it quite literally needs to be half the height it is now.

Basically, I have one for 'just in case' but it'll stay undercoated only for now. Templars can't even drop them on the first turn.
