Chaplin Dreadnoughts and Apoc'

Although I've no interest in playing Apocolypse, I heard some stuff covered in the book allows you to field stuff in normal games that evidently aren't covered in the usual codexs, can anyone confirm that I can use a Chaplin Dreadnought in a normal 40k game?
The points values and such are actually availiable in a pdf on Forgeworld but the writing is too small for me to see if its apocolypse only or not.
Also no idea whether being Black Templar wuld be a problem, but as far as I'm aware it merely says 'Space Marine' Armies, which of course, Templars still are.
I do want to add a nother dread' to my army but I won't if I can't make it venerable, and the chaplin one is regardless of existing ones, and cheaper.

If forgeworld released rules for it then you can use it in games..

True. They tend to release differing rules for their stuffin and out of Apoc but I definately wouldn't have a problem playing a normal 40k game against you if you used a Chaplian Dread. Very characterful for Templars anyway.

as well as that the rules differ for the same vehicle from book to book, so which book you pull the rules from can affect the performance of the vehicle, and the points cost :p

Awsome sauce. Now just have to decide whether to get one from there or make my own from the new multi-part plastic venerable dread kit, which btw looks AWSOME, saw a built one at my store.
for anyone else interested;

Does that mean that these rules are applicable as well? Even though they aren't in the codex?

Holy quivering [well, someone needs a cool off period]balls of anticipation. I can drop pod assault my dreadnought! And then assault! I can use different kinds of Land Raider! I can have Valkyries in (should I choose to do one) a Daemonhunter army! I can..I can...do just about everything I've ever wanted to be able to do! (except take an Ironclad)
Ahahahahahaha! My girlfriends going to hate this, now where's that useless drop pod and plasticard...
Soon my great Warmachine shall fall like a God of Holy and righteous death upon the upstart Sisters of Battle, and lay waste to the pale shadow of the Asartes!

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

O.o Seriously, quite chuffed. She's become rather uppity of late >_> Killing my dreadnought before it's great works are begun and so forth.

you just say "am i allowed to use units from whatever sourcebook/website", and if they say yes, its fair game. if not, then its codex only im afraid. if she says no, let her look at FW for anything she wants and make sure she understands that she cant use whatever thing she likes if you cant use your chappy dread/assault pods

Now you see this is what always annoys me with FW stuff, the whole players permission thing. I mean sure if your gonna whip out a Titan or summat it'd be nice to know beforehand (Trust me been involved in such a game, was rather awkward when one player went mental and threw his land Raider on the floor in anger) but something like a dread or Leman Russ Variant etc needs permission eh??

Its not like its a 3rd party ruleset or the like I mean it is made by GW after all, isn't it about time that this was sorted out. Didnth the whole permission things stem from GT Tournies stating that it wasnt official GW stuff so therefore not legal or am i remembering this wrong?

I know in tournies it's a big no no but I don't see why a Russ variant is a problem. But then again in a pick up game against a stranger I suppose it might be difficult.

several people ive talked to (at GW and elsewhere) say that you dont need permission for anything that isnt a superheavy or flier, as its been published by GW (via forgeworld) its legit.

I asked around abit but theres n ot much info on it, far as I can tell no one would give a toss about a Chaplin dreadnought, but more people would say no to a Dreadnought assault pod. But the thing makes sense, most can't assault because they'll be all shaken up..but a Dread wouldn't be and if I can't use it in tourney's then of course on my limited budget, I'm not going to get one before getting other models, and as Templar it would have been really awsome to have another Venerable Dreadnought, (since the blasted Ultramarines can have up to SIX!) and it is as someone said a very 'Templar' thing to do.

I'm relatively sure that Dreads can take Drop Pods in the actual codex anyway, wait a minute... reaches three foot to the right and flicks through relevant book...Yes, Dreads can take Drop Pods within the Codex. So whilst I can understand someone objecting to a Chaplain Dread, they don't really have any ground to stand on when it comes to pods.

Aye, and then they jump out..blast something..and get shot. Next to useless. They need to make the Lucius pattern Dreadnought drop pod a codex option. Heh, and I was right, every person i've asked so far has gone, 'Um...sorry dude, but no.'
I would very very much like to see the chaplin dreadnought become a codex choice when the Templars get updated. Even better if they give me dreadnought assault drop pods.

Whether you use the drop pod as cover or not! I know you can "shoot" through it, but would provide a lot of cover.
