Entertainment officer...Meet the gang cos the boys are here.....

Welcome to Cadia. Those of you that have seen my previous logs will know that I have an IG fixation and notably a fixation on Cadia. 78 (Fortress) battlegroup- Cadian. is an ever expanding beast and though I try to diversify (I WILL build that DA army if it kills me ) I find myself returning to these boys time and again. So what this time? Well several things really My oft' partner in crime (he of the Drograns) and I have been discussing several vehicles of late. One is a total ripoff of the work of someone else 'Changeling' over on WIP who has inspired me to build something based on this http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=16189 Two, taking this theme on wards I think I have sussed a way of creating a sort of MLRS style manticore based on the new hellhound chassis Three- Having aquired an AVLB model of a peculiar scale I have a bridge layer in the works Four- and this is all FW's fault having seen their new buggy (and I will have a couple i have no doubt) I have a mind to create (from some old Ork Truck Chassis that I traded with Bhodi Tree (cheers Vee)) to create the Kantrael pattern of said vehicle. Now of course a vehicle of this nature is very suited to an Airborne force and so.... Five- Cadian Airborne! and with this in mind i would like to introduce you to Captain ..... well I need to find a name but he will be the commander of a platoon of Cadian airborne complete with its own integral heavy support which will all be of a light nature. No firm plans for an Army list yet, I may well see what comes via IA8. lack of an Army list has never stopped me before though. Ok so a bit of a dilema what Camo pattern to go for. here are the candidates. ![]() Multicam or the new UK equivalent. Love the look of this but I could be a total bar steward to try to recreate at 28mm scale! ![]() French Central Europe pattern. I like this (not just cos its french) its an often seen 'fashion' camo pattern in the UK. Again just not sure how well it would work. or ![]() French Lizard Pattern a much favoured uniform of the French Airborne until the wearing of it was banned by the French Government after the French Paras did some bad stuff in Algeria. This has always been a favourite of mine and is inkeeping with the pattern that the lads from 78 currently wear as can be seen here ![]() So here we go again . Fear not though The Lander is still very musch under way and I expect to make progress this weekend. For Now Cadia Welcomes the careful poster. Later Guys Edited by Old Guard, 19 Jan 2010, 10:21 PM.

Bloody hell, OG's off one one again....... Captain looks good so far, though i'd get rid of that nasty mould line from the inside of his left arm. As for the camo, i'd go with the lizard pattern. Fits well with the rest of your Cadians. Either that or you could try doing multicam using the sponge technique you did on the AB regiment a while ago? |

Thanks Steve Yes i am aware of the ML . just chucked this guy together quickly this evening all exited and girly after the sight of the buggy. Yes lizard is very tempting due to the ease of achieving it. i need to run some tests with multicam. I suspect that it will be a total *£$&* so..... |

I had a feeling you'd already spotted the ML. Camo wise, if it's going to be a small elite force give the multicam a go, it might be more of a pain to do but it would distinguish them as an elite unit. If your going for loads of troops then go lizard, if only for the ease of doing it across mass troops. |

Good call in the IG. I think, that the Captain's name should just be "Captain" No name. Kinda like from Saving Private Ryan...sorta.
Kinda gives him some animosity, mysteriousness, and possibly some BAness too. Or...you could name him And if you can replicate that tank, that would be some awesomeness too. |

Old Guard...doing more Guard...oh dear, but airborne...interesting. The captain looks great at the minute, I reckon if you are going to try to replicate that vehicle, why not try the British Multicam? maybe keep a british theme running throughout the support vehicles and such? No Union Jacks or anything like that though, this IS a 40k army. - Sachiel |

A Cadian Airbone, thats sounds nice. Before I start my 122, I was thinking of something like that, but the costs was too high for my budget I have seen your previous logs and I`m looking forward to see this new project from you. The captain looks great, the conversation and mixing of Cadian and Catachan bits is fantastic. Want to see more

Andy? Painting airborne guard? Most fantastic. All your prospective camo schemes look good, but I think the Lizard pattern is too similar to your existing camo. Central European would be nice, as would some well painted multi-cam. I don't suppose there is a chance of something quintessentially British Airborne, Dennison smock camo? I know its not the most interesting scheme but nothing screams airborne like it! Either way, I’m really interested in this project. Dave out. |

indeed ! modeling and European colonial history! who could ask for more!! thanks to all for l the comments , much appreciated. Hmm dilema dilema, what Camo to do. Possibly need to do some tests and see what gives. Frog (shudders as he says it) Always loved the lizard pattern. first saw it in a brook that they used to give French youths to give them an insight on their options in the days of military service while I was at school there and have liked it ever since. Nice buggy design there POD, hows about giving it another Axle? eh? I am toying with the idea of using the old Ork trucks so wider 6 wheeled (a bit like the Supacat the original one. not the mahusive jobby they use now though with definite influence from it.) And OY!!! Whats wrong with more Guard? you can never have enough Guard! |

well thats what i used as inspiration for the my main army the 78th and why i was then considering the original Lizard pattern. I am going to have a ago at multicam, having looked at the material I have identified the main colours and will see how time consuming it is. If that faills then its lizard and I will use the CE for the fatigues of the groundcrew for my Navy fighter wing. |
