Hmmm, irrespective of the success and the surrounding paranoia I think we should do it again next year, but with a British band and a half decent song. . . But which one?

Dave out.
Bohemian Rhapsody?
it went to no.1 after Freddy's death so it might do again with the right support

no no no! still all part of the establishment. No it needs to be something that has a degree of cool but is not 'too' mainstream

Doghouse, Ammo and the bunker dwellers please. If we have the Ammobunker male voice choir we have to sing something Russian like Kalinka (look it up and play the Red Army Choir's version of it!!) or something Welsh :o , and I draw the line there. Especially with the idea of Wolvie as front man...... sales would go into the negative ;) :D

HAHAHA (old fashioned gentlemen who denies the concept of LOL)

that would actually be great! since it is actually a great song (shhhhhhhh! dont mention I said that!! ;) !)

GOT IT! they used to play a tune at the start of each Radio 4 broadcast that was a meddle of all the great British tunes including something from all parts of the Union including harlech, Rule Britannia....etc Some snake of a BBC executive decided it was too Jingoistic and pulled it a year or so ago despite much protest from the listeners (hey what do they know they were only paying this weasels wages*) cant remember the name of it though...someone help me out...I KNOW I am not the only person here that listens to Radio 4!

* all due apologies to snakes and weasels and indeed elephants and woosels.

Was thinking Iron Maiden's Afraid to Shoot Strangers. Great song, fantastic video and very appropriate considering we're at war, and will be this time net year.

Yes, Andy, we do. And here is the reasoning behind it. . .

Had Joe got to number one he could have rested on his laurels, made a mediocre album and not have given a [Not on the floor please] how badly it did because he got his Christmas number one, or indeed a number one full stop. Now, thanks to us, he will have to earn his next number one record the hard way by going into the studio and making a really good song that people actually choose to go out and buy on merit. That way, he is almost guaranteed a far better career that he would have had if Rage hadn't got to number one. We did him a massive favour, actually. Just you wait, Cowell will say something similar, mark my words!

British band, mmm, instead of dredging up old songs why don't we just back existing decent bands like Biffy Cliro, Snow Patrol, etc. It then proves we have a music future instead of keep looking back?

Snow Patrol? Do you want a large portion of the populace to kill themselves?

I'm not really impressed by all this no 1 race rubbish, I can guarantee that around sixty percent that bought it couldn't name one of their albums and were just jumping on the viral band wagon.

The real money is in gigs for bands, with bands making something stupid like ten pence per album sale most of the money that goes to the label and itunes.

The only good thing about this is that Shelter got over thirty five grand, the song should have been called "Making a killing in the name of Sony".

I personally believe (and this is just my opinion here so I'm sorry if it comes across as all political here ;) ) it would have been more productive if these people that rushed out to buy it had put their money and energy into supporting the families of the troops in Afghanistan instead.

The next campaign will be "buying Sony records reduces your carbon foot print..."
