Killing in the Name; For Christmas No. 1

This probably won't happen, but it is worth the try.

Every year now we are subjected to another bland faceless 'talent' making number one for Christmas with another re-hash of an exisitng song.

I for one am sick of Simon Cowel getting everything his own way, he makes a fortune from a show who's only aim is to entertain people by putting people up who have no talent to be torn apart publicly before moving onto an hour long (or longer) advert for his artists.

No matter who wins the show he wins.

Just for once it would be nice for the smug, ungracious tosser not to get what he wants.

This year there is a chance, however small it may be, of someone else getting the No. 1 slot.

'Killing in the Name' is an all time rock classic by Rage Against The Machine.

For it to get the Christmas No. 1 it would restore some of my faith in the British public, that they aren't so enamoured by celebrity that they will bend over and take whatever is thrust their way by an industry that does not care about true talent or bringing anything new to an industry that is full of plastic interchangeable and easily forgettable 'artists'. That maybe, just maybe, they have some soul left.

Go on Amazon, iTunes or play.com and download the track.

Facebook page... HERE with more links.

Let's face it, this won't take away any sales from whoever it is winning, or take any money out of tosspots pocket. But to have someone worth the No. 1 slot actually get it instead of it simply being handed to them it is worth the damn try.

It is, after all, what Jesus would of wanted.

Digits, I think he's allowed this one, I honestly don't care in Cowells record, I just can't stand Joe singing 'The Climb' !

My brother did his part, and brought it from iTunes.

Isn't R.A.T.M winning though, so I've heard?

I would like to point out that there can be some mitigating factors in the merits of Cowell's media outpouring.

Namely, sitting and watching it with my partner and kids keeps everyone happy and earns me brownie points that mean I can go paint some evenings. ;)

Plus I didn't find it half as bad as I thought I would... maybe I'm too mainstream. :D

i dont think it is just because this series of the X factor was crap and they made us suffer Jedward, but because for the last few years they have hogged the christmas no 1 spot.

Go post in someone's topic that you normally wouldn't
Nothing to do with it winding Cowell up so much that he actually went and spoke out against it.

Buying my copy soon.

Erm, all those who purchased from amazon have made a grave mistake! Because it is under 40p for the track, apparently it doesn't actually count towards the chart listings. Still to get my copy, gonna do it tomorrow.

Dave out.

Amazon have said it's fine - something along the lines of it counts so long as it is sold to the retailer for 40p it counts, if they want to discount it then it's their business, plus they're selling the X-factor one for the same price
