Oh the shame! Couldn't help it, but I've just been handling the plastic Trygon and looking at the new gargoyles and ravenors at our local shop. The trygon alone is worth the dip into xeno scum territory! Very nice model (with option build). The ravenors are nice (but £27 for 3!!!!!! ).Big nid army - here I no doubt come! |

Oh dear! Cant blame me for this one this is all your own doing. Sorry but I shall not follow the path to heresy. I do have some nids (macragge set and a couple of extras) and they will be built (someday) but only as target practice for the forces of the imperium!!!! I too have handled the Trygon but it holds no attraction. the LOD on the other hand are trully gorgeous. The sergeant figure is a thing of beauty. and yes. I shall! Oh dear oh dear oh dear...... (lets really twist the Knife now and suggest a 40K scale Nid ship!!! te he!

Digits, why dont you finish a project or 3 before deciding on nids? im sure your Drogans would like their cruiser and their renegade enemies finished before they squash some bugs. on a side note, i will probably be getting some of the LOD, but £8 for a multimelta or heavy flamer guy that costs the same as a guy with a lascannon is making me think about which guys to get. maybe wait for next month's new 6 before making any decisions about them edit: is it just me or does the Mawlock or whatever its name is look like have a mouth like those hybrid vamps off Blade 2? Welcome to the Hive Mind! We have cookies. All the models look great, and reasonable value with the exception of the raveners. One of the most interesting things about the new book is all the options that don't have dedicated kits, but need kitbashing. Had a look at the Trygon sprues today. Looks to be fully compatible with the Carnifex. Making me consider all sorts of possibilities. The rules themselves are starting to break too, and on that front it's more of a mixed bag. More units is good, but some existing units seem to be taking a hit. More expensive carnifexes is going to be a bit of a shock, for example. I'll be interested to get the book in my hands and tot up one of my 4th edition lists with the new costs. Since I collect for fluff rather than optimising everything for tournaments this gives a pretty clear indication of whether things have got cheaper overall or not (for example, I got a bunch of extra points out of the transition from old to new IG). |

Oh, dont worry, I have no intention of peeing on anyones chips! The only reason I want to have a few big nids is the conversion opportunity! I already have plans for a trygon (or three!). The thought of having to paint a horde army would leave me somewhat colder than Rudolf's arse! |

You can take warriors as troops this time around, so literally half a dozen warriors is all you need before you can pad out to high points levels with trygons and whatnot. That won't take long. |

Nids are a good prospect for airbrushing/washing to get a quick effect, wasnt it Dave Kelly in the Apoc book with his midnightblack and yellow nids that were just that (and a smattering of colour on big nids???) Quite keen on this as it would be a quick army to paint up, didnt Tepok paint 100+ bugs in a week??? Got me thinking now......glad I never asked santa for anything before I left...... |

I can see some uses for those gargoyles wings outside of nid armies. If they ever made hive tyrants in plastic then I'd be all over them and I do like the trygon. The alternative trygon model I'm guessing is an off shoot of the nid character model whose name escapes me. I remember a great story of him devouring a storm trooper. Nice to see nids getting some tank sized models. |

Red terror. Yes, the mawloc seems quite similar (and big enough to actually swallow things whole). TBH I'm very surprised that the terror itself isn't in the codex, with the return of SC's to the nid list. It's the nicest SC model that nids have. |

Not quite sure whether I convinced my friend to collect nids because I wanted to see them or crush them...first thing he bought was a carnifex. O.o He had to leave itat my house and I've been just itching to paint it.... As for the Legion models.I would buy them if I could use them, as I lack invunerables in my army and no amount of troops or spreading out is close to a good old invunerable. What I desperately want to know is whether their 3 + save is just invunerable or whether it is also an armour save. |
