I actually only know from 4 relatives that they have served in the great wars:
Grandfather (father): Soldier in the Belgian army.

Great grandfather (mother): Served in the Belgian army in WO1 (Ieper).
Great Uncle (mother): Belgian army in WO2 and after the surrender joined the resisitance.

Noone in my family but my friends Grandad (in the British Army) accidentally shot down an allied plane in WWII and kept schtum about it. Got away with it too, so the legend goes.
