I have an unassembled khorne world eaters terminator lord zhufor that I want to be more dynamic. I want it to be the centerpiece of my khorne army. The conversion would include: -Repositioning the legs so than one foot is on a guardsman, face up, trying to escape -raising the axe arm and so the axe is being held as if it was being swung down at the guardsman under his foot -- This means the axe is being held by the end of the handle, not the middle -raising the powerfist hand as if he was shooting someone whild killikg the guardsman. Here's what I mean"

I'll jump on board this one and have someone else in mind who I think'll enjoy it. Conversion wise the one bit I'd leave is the skeletal Commissar on his back. I love that. |

Antipope figured I could do some good on this project so here I am. I've got an idea of what your trying to do and I know how to do it. It is going to involve a lot of sculpting, so get the tools and GS ready. There's going to be a lot of pinning on this so get yourself a decent pin vice, drill bits and something to use as pins - paper clips will work fine. Another thing that you might find useful is a fine toothed razor saw. This is the only way your going to get accurate cuts on the figure. Get all that plus your usual tools together and it's time to wash the parts. Hot (not too hot, you'll make the resin soft) water and washing up liquid should do the trick, soak for a few mins then scrub all the parts with an old toothbrush. Rinse under clean water then put aside to dry. When the parts are dry, do it all over again. That way you can spot any parts you may have missed first time round. Then the fun begins......

I've got the greenstuff and pinning tools. Being as I recently returned the sculpting tools I was using, can you guys suggest a good set of sculpting tools? I'll score a razor saw at my local hobby shop. Off to washing! |

For most sculpting the tool you can get from GW is fine, thats what i'd use for this project. Another thing to consider is a colour shaper. This is basically a rubber tipped tool used for spreading paint around. It's excellent for sculpting with as the rubber tip doesn't stick to GS like most tools. A couple of different ones to start out with are a flat chisel tip and a angle chisel tip. For more advanced sculpting these things are worth there weight in gold. |

Thanks for the fast answer. 2 questions about the color/ clay shapers: 1. what size should I get? 2. soft, firm, or extra firm? Edited by donanton, 4 Nov 2009, 12:47 AM.

I'd guess it'd need to be firm but it's kind of intuitive I imagine. You'll 'know' what's right for you if you know what I mean. |

Size wise, a 0 is about right. As for the 'firmness', I would go for a mix of firm (light grey tips) and extra firm (black tips). You'd be surprised how sharp an edge you can give GS with just an extra firm tool. |

While I'm waiting for tools to arrive, what do you think the order of conversions will be, diablo/antipope?

I can see the Powerfist is going to be bother because of the chains he is holding. The trophies hang with the model right now whereas you'll have to bend the resin to get it to work still with the fist pointed downwards. I imagine the Axe you could achieve by cutting up the handle, axe and haft and rearanging them. Are you going to use the bare or helmeted head? |

The chains on the fist shouldn't be a massive problem - the chains go all the way through the skulls and wrap around the hand - the only work will be to get the loose ends going in the right direction. As for conversions, the legs ideally need to be done first as it'll give the figure a stable base to do the rest of the work. While your waiting on tools etc, find yourself a guardsman to be cutting up into the right pose. Don't worry about cutting it's back flat to fit on the base, we'll be carving the base up to give it more depth. |

Thats exactly where you want to cut. When you get the leg off, you'll want to cut away all the ribbing from behind the knee. Also, you'll need to cut away the hip plate very carefully as you'll be wanting that later. |

Got a leg repositioning here. It is not shown but the thigh armor plate is in a safe place.![]() The leg repos 1.jpg is a larger version if you need some more detail. I'm requositioning the needed parts for the guardsman. Edited by donanton, 7 Nov 2009, 03:40 AM.

The guardsman will be modeled like this and painted the same. Here's a pic if the link doesn't work.
