Using Forge World stuff in armies; A quick question.

Long story short, got my redundancy money, paid off all my bills, starting new job next week and actually have some spending money left over.

I've been looking at the forge world stuff and have decided to treat myself to some stuff but not sure how it works in terms of rules.
As far as I can make out in the newer lists some are part of a specific army but can you use other tanks as part of a regular guard army.
So say for example say something like the Thunderer siege tank that isn't covered in the codex but isn't specifically for say the Krieg list, can they be used alongside the regular guard dex?

I am soooooo tempted to get the Reaver or a Warhound but I'll never use them to be honest. :D

You can't use em in tournaments, but I think most people are happy to see FW Stuff used in regular games. Normally the relevant IA book tells you what slot they fulfil on the force org chart. Go for it!

Mate - for any game against mates, use whatever fits your fluff! Thunderers have been in IA1 since the first edition - long before the Krieg were on the scene. Check out the FW downloads section for the up to date IA1 rules too.

You planning on getting any riot tanks?

Even if people don't want you to use IA stuff.... Thunderer? Counts as Demolisher. Destroyer tank hunter? It's a Vanquisher! Few people mind things like those and fewer still will mind using them as proxies. When I start my Guard I'll be getting some Vultures for sweet MRP dakkaplates, and I can always proxy them as Valks. Just don't bring all three Forgeworld Greater Daemons to a game that's been previously agreed on not using IA stuff like some people have done ;)

One thing I would ask is, have you had any experience of FW before or is this your first foray?

Nice one cheers guys. Didn't want to go spending cash on stuff only to find out that I can't use it.

What I'm currently looking at is a Vulture with punisher cannons for my enforcers and maybe the Malcador if it can be used outside of a Krieg list as a heavy riot vehicle.

I've bought a few things from FW in the past but it's mostly small stuff like infantry or bits.

There are no 'army specific' options, i.e. things only Krieg can take, when it comes to the tanks.

The IA books give you rules to include them in a Guard army, they then give you a themed army list (such as the Krieg Siege List) where some things may differ slightly - usually number available. But otherwise any FW tank can be takenb in any Codex Guard Army.

As Digits said download the revised IA1 pdf from Forgeworld and it'll give you the points, options, FOG slot etc for all of the tanks.

EDIT: The Malc was actually brought in as a Miltia tank - they pulled them out of the Vraks stores. The only ones the Krieg used where actually looted from the battlefield and cleaned up etc. I have two, nice tanks. The rules for them are not on the website though. They are in the later Vraks books (6 i think off hand) and also in the IA Apoc book. Drop me a PM if you want a run down on them.

heavy riot vehicle
Sounds like you need a Repressor. By Enforcers do you mean Adeptus Arbites, or Hive "police"? It's a pretty broad term in the Imperium, and generally non-Arbites Enforcers wouldn't have access to anything bigger than heavy stubbers and light vehicles. Arbites typically use Rhino hulls and locally produced APCs, seldom with heavy weaponry. Mostly grenade launchers, heavy webbers and the like. It's also very dependant on the type of world they are from.

I'm going for more of a local law enforcement supported by Arbites. As I'm using the Guard dex I can only include rhinos if I take inquisitorial storm troopers so the arbites are in Valks.

If you need heavy firepower, you could always call up the Drogans! :P

If I ever need enough fire power to destroy an entire planet I'll give you a call. ;)

FW is always the way to go, but just be careful. Resin can get quite addictive.

Whereas I have SW bits, RS bits (suitably shaven), Cadian bits, the titan crew and Krieg. Not got the courage up to go for anything bigger yet. Only thing I have done completly is the Kreig commissar and some Mk 4 bits, Not too sure how well they turned out....(shameless plug)

Take two squads of =][= Stormies (you can give them shotguns, it says in the little "Make these guys into Arbites" blurb in the WH codex entry) in Rhinos as Allies from the WH codex, it's allowed. Then use Guard for the rest. If they're "local law enforcement" I doubt they will have much in the way of firepower though!

Resin Crack...three XV9s, some Tetra Light Speeders and an Orca are all catching my eye at the moment. Dave, did you say Tetras were nice to paint?

Not to ignore the FW stuff, but just wanted to say congratulations on finding a new job, hope it goes well for you and glad that you haven't been redundant too long. :)
