So, went to Duxford, the Imperial War Museums air branch, as well as some other things (all the museums big stuff basically). Here is a small selection of my photos to bore you with: Buisness end of a Mosquito ![]() Vulcan ![]() TSR2 ![]() Sunderland. This was huge, so big in fact it was once a nightclub in France (No kidding) ![]() Paradog (three combat drops no less) ![]() Lance Seargeant Baysfield's VC (as mentioned in Digits log) ![]() Spanish Me109. Built on licence but the Germans never gave them their engines. So after the war, they fitted them with Merlin engines! ![]() Hawker Seafury powering up, saw it put on a small display ![]() Weathering on a Hurricane's wing. No idea if that's realistic but just thought it was interesting, not the usual all round soot you'd expect. ![]() This was once a Zero, apparently a long term rennovation project (No, really?) ![]() Hind, cool to see one in the flesh ![]() And just for Dave38x, big spinning gun ![]() Took over 160 photos whilst there. They've got some cool tanks and planes and some other odd stuff. Some good stowage and weathering pointers as well. I highly recommend it. |

Doesn't it look like a face!

TSR-2 Has been there since they were scrapped, used to be sitting outside beside the bloodhound missile and shackleton. I went there a lot as a kid, and a few years ago went to flying legends at it, which was one of the better airshows I've been to, No fast jets but seeing 6 Spitfires fly at once was quite nice.. It's because it's moving forward when it's firing so the soot goes up or down over the wing. ![]() SC |

have to say i doubt its realistic, for one reason and one reason only, being that the red patch was replaced before each mission (hence why you can see tear holes), one of the things groundcrew always looked for on returning aircraft was the holes in the red sections to indicate the guns had been fired. As the soot staining is consistent over the tape onto the wing, not lighter on the tape and then much more built up on the wing i doubt it is realistic, unless that much soot is aggregated in one sortie... if anyone could shed any further light on this it would be v interesting

There most certainly was a jump jet, and just about everything else you can imagine, I took nearly 160 pics. My favourite bit was the american section, the B-52 was just huge, couldn't get a shot of it at all, but for some reason the F-111 was my favourite, really nice aircraft. Also good to see an A10, suspended from the ceiling. The land warfare hall was also good, with lots of tanks, including a HUGE conqueror, that the british got rid of because they were too big and powerful! I'll try to sort out the harrier pics, and anymore if people want them. |

Some more for Dean Harrier ![]() Mig (21 I think, my memory is going) ![]() American Memorial. Has a little carving of every American plane flying from a UK base that was shot down. It goes on for a hell of a distance. A very very good idea for a memorial we thought. ![]() SR71 ![]() A10 ![]() I'm sure this is what BringerofDecay was painting not so long ![]() Conqueror - huge tank, served only 7 years, scrapped for basically being too big and powerful. Would fit well in 40k.

Any pictures of a Buccaneer? Probably my favourite British-built aircraft of all time. My dad will be at Edwards AFB airshow next week so I'll try and put up some of his pics from that if people want
