Hi everone

Yes another little project log (while I also try to find the time to update my other once :$ )

This topic will be a log on my third Space Wolve army useing all the new models & also thank to getting these earily from Games Day UK

So after slow recovering from games day (Sat to Mon I only had 8 hour sleep) I been busy building my new Wolves more so with a game I had with them last night to get a rough idea how the army will play, etc...

Well here photos that I took today just after base the models (they are now undercaoted)

First up the army list

Wolf Lord, Storm Sheild, Frost Axe, Ruinic Armour, Sage of the Bear
Ruin Priest, Sage of the Warrior born
9 Wolf Guards with 6 Terminators w/Assault cannon, 2 Thunder hammer, five with Combi Plasma, power armour guy have Power Weapons & Combi Melta
8 Grey Hunter, Melta, Mark of the Wulfen, Power Fist
8 Grey Hunter, Melta, Mark of the Wulfen, Power Fist
7 Grey Hunter, Melta, Mark of the Wulfen, Power Fist
Land Speeder

It 1497pts.

So here is what I have today

I still to put some detail to the Land Speeder base, but I'm running out of nids :(

So right now I am waiting on the PVA glue to dry a bit on the base, then I'll start undercaoting my army in half a hour time as I am not a fan of useing unpainted armies on the feild of battle.

Then Sat I should hopeful pick another box of Space Wolves to make me some Counters.

My idea for the army over all is

- Try to include some fourm of celtic design onto the Drop Pods & possible some of the normal Space Wolves
- Home & away mission (one object each in the rule book) I am current thinking of base this on a Lone Wolf who has slay a might beast of the Nids. But has came to his wounds, sort of like the 13th Warrior movie, having him sitting onto top of the dead nid like a king throne.
- d3+2 counter, not sure if I want these to be rip apart Space Wolves or could do somthing with Space Wolves being pulled away by Legion of the Damned Space Marines. Who know, I'll have a look that thge background.

But well come to those later. I also need to buy another nids box to have some dead nids onto my Land Speeder base

So until then, my Wolves are current being undercaoted (waiting on them to dry right now before another coat) & I have a second game vs Marines. There first game last night...got slaughter but I was not fully focuse & did say to my oppent I was just going to charge into any of his Nids (Nidzilla) because I was Wolves & I want to get into combat. Other wise in a event I would have never played the way I did last night & took more care, but it also help teach me a lot about my army.

Nice start. I like the darker grey you've gone for with the red and black markings, much better than the standard scheme IMHO. Now get cracking on those Wolf Guard B)

These are looking great, really like all the little touches you've added especially the bases with the dead nids, Good colour scheme too i think space wolves look better in a darker shade of grey makes them look more barbaric almost instead of the really bright grey GW paint theirs in.

looking forward to seeing these get painted up :)

Well it seem my Space Wolves are curse, due to being unwell.........

Yesterday
- Drop Pod fall off the gaming table
- Lord fallen while I was painting him only for the axe & slate base to break off :'(

Today
- Drop my Land Speeder while undercaoting...luck only one drive broke though he is missing his right arm
- Almost drop another Drop Pod because I turn around only for the wind to catch the door & me walking into it :( (we need anger face)

Anyway that the last of the models near undercaoted/ready for painting.

The Dark Grey. Yep I just like it this way as I like the per-heresy colour. It done with the Battle Grey foundasion (sp) paints & then Black wash, highlight with codex grey. I just preffer dark colours, though still trying to think of how I want to paint my Wolf Guards pads.

I should hopeful start some painting later today. See how I feel & mood as I am a bit annoyed that I can't stop dropping stuff right now.

As said with the first game I was not all that focuse, I just wanted to kick Nids rear end in, but if it was for a tournament or if I was not suffer from games day & lack of sleep it would have been complete diffrent.

But overall, let say those Nidzilla........ever Fex was down to one to two wounds (out of five they had), while my oppent Hivetyrent had loss all his bodyguards.
Also would have help if Dice where better (2, 1, 1 for a Heavy Bolter to hit or a guy with Mark of Wulfen to hit got nothing but 2's on the dice)

But I'm going to play properly tomorrow vs Marines.

They are a good army & I do look forward to useing them a lot more along with my IW for the tournaments.

Nice looking wolves, like the dark colour on them. What do you put in the 4th drop pod as from your list I can only see 3 squads that can go in them? Or do the 3 power armoured WG go in one and not attached to squads as I assume?

Way the army work is

All three Grey Hunter units get a Drop Pod, as you said that is three out of the four use.

Wolf Guards, three Terminators are sent to my Grey Hunter (as why the small number of 7-8, the 7 man unit get the Ruin Priest as well). This leave me with

Three Terminators (take up six spot), three Power Armour Guards & a Lord. These Wolf Guards are his bodyguards (in term of background since you can not get bodyguards for HQ any more  )

So it

8 Grey Hunter + Terminator Wolf Guard
Pod

8 Grey Hunter + Terminator Wolf Guard
Pod

7 Grey Hunter + Terminator Wolf Guard + Ruin Priest
Pod

3 Terminators, 3 Power Armour Wolf Guards + Wolf Lord
Pod

3 Speeder all single.

Update

Time for another little update & though it be good with today being the release of the Space Wolves ;)

First up, over the next two week update will be up/down. This is due to me focuse on my Iron Warriors Chaos Marines for this year UKGT heat 1 which is two week from today. As I'll be getting some new last min models built & painted (never sit right with me if your not painting to the very last few moment before a event). For those intrested you can see my Iron Warriors by here

http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7246658/2/#new

Then I should be focuse onto these Space Wolves by the 19th Oct.

As to the Wolves.

I've just went for painting the Wolf Guards right away due to being cool models.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

I still got a lot to paint onto these Wolf Guards from
- Celtic ruin/Viking ruins
- I am temp to give battle chip armour a try for the first time to bring a bit more to the Grey Power Armour, also they been battle Nids.... they would exspect to get some damnge
- Going to paint tatoo's (sp) onto the heads

Also to take a little break from painting Wolf Guards I though get a start on a Grey Hunter

Posted Image

Posted Image

Still lots to do as well, with the Grey Hunters I will be useing Viking ruin icon as squad marking which you can see on the Drop Pods door's.

Also after having two battles, it has given me a lot of insight into my army. The list has been good overall, though one area has been the Ruin Priest....they are great, but he need a bit more armour as it where. So I change a few things in my list to give him Terminator armour which will also help him a bit more with his sage. That & I also saw the new Storm-caller model today & knew I wanted the model in my army (I am currently useing the Power Armour version of him from 2nd Ed era)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Again still lot's to do. I was painting him while watch Outlander (guy from the future who get stuck during Viking times & has to take on a monster). Got to say I really like the model & did not wish to do much conversion other than to give him a cool base. Also just the amount of detail on Storm-called.

I'm hope to make a start on some more Grey Hunter this week but after that it'll be my Iron Warriors as I'll only have a week from Mon & Tue..possible Thur to get those last min painting in before the Grand Tournament.

Little bit of a update.

Been painting my Space Wolves on/off this week (real life with a few meeting this week). Right now my aim just to get my army painted, not finish....just painted because I am not a fan of unpainted/undercaoted armies. Only do this ever so often to try out my new army (useing them unpainted/undercaoted) to get a idea & make any quick change.

So far here what has been done since three days ago

Wolf Lord with his Wolf Guards again

The now 6 Grey Hunter unit that I have just give a Black Wash. Will be highlight these after this post.

Posted Image

As said still a lot of work to do to these models.
- Celtic ruin
- Free hand painted Wolf heads on the shoulder pads
- Tide up some detail
- Squad markings

Just right now I'm aim to get them just painted, then go back to these detail later on.

Also in case people are wounder about the amount of left over bits, well

Posted Image

Posted Image

This would be from the boxies showen in the orignaly post. It good to have a few spare Terminators in-case I need to change any of my Wolfs Guards, or I'm currently thinking of add another unit (I did buy three boxies after all of Terminators) of Wolf Guard Terminators to be my Ruin Priest bodyguards.

Also while that my local GW yesterday getting most these Wolfs painted, I spoted that they only have one box left of the Power Armour wolfs before the next order of course. Though be best buy it, kept it to one side, again in case of any new units or Wolf Guards I want into Power Armour.

Posted Image

Like wise I am needing to convert up a Lone Wolf for my local GW painting comp that they will be doing at the end of the month. Should hopeful get him converted tonight & will add onto here. He will sadily not be use in my current army list. I'm just converting him for this painting comp & because I like the whole idea behind the Lone Wolf. Then again I can use this as a excuse to get my Object counter done :D

Thanks for the comment

Another little update

After taken a break from painting tonight I though I get started on my Lone Wolf for my local GW painting comp (end of the month we paint somthing to do with the new release)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

I use some of the ruin stone from bit of the new wolf kit I cut off. These rep the first letter of his squad mate names, so he carry there icon/sign into battle in honour of them. The scroll on the left shoulder pad is his oath to get revange for his departed battle brother. With the Terminators armour, way I see it is, he granted any wargear to met his death or glory.

I really like the idea & background to the Lone Wolfs. I will not be useing one in my curry drop pod list. However for this model, I like how he turn out. So I might be dropping a few thing to include him into my Wolf Lord bodyguards. Be cool theme wise that he has complete his oath & take part in the might Wolf Guards. Well see what the future hold for this model, but right now he for my local GW store painting comp.

Still got to add a strip of plasticard or make a starp from green stuff for the sheild.
