I'm sure I'm not the only one on our side of the pond feeling a little left out of the outstanding festivities just held at WHW. Would there be interest in holding an event next Year in 2010 at either Origins or Gencon Indy which re both centrally located here in the States? Heck we might even be able to work something out with the Adepticon crew in Illinois as it's a premier con with GW as a focus. So what say my American Brethren? Cheers, Jim Edited by BDJV, 27 Apr 2009, 10:42 PM.

If there was an 'official' AB presence somewhere, either an AB event or participating at someone else's, I am sure the AB team will do whatever we can to help out. Not sure how much we can do but if you want to get the ball rolling to see what the possibilities are it wouldn't be a bad thing. We can put a message about it in the next Newsletter to give it more coverage with the members and put them in the direction of this thread if they want to make suggestions etc. |

Thanks Rictus, any help is appreciated! Right now I am trying to gauge the interest. North America is a big place and it would mean traveling for the event for most involved. |

For a more serious contribution on my part, perhaps (as Rictus alludes to) you guys could start with an official AB presence at some event? I know AB had tables at last years UK GD, so maybe if a few of you are attending a particular GD or other event, you could get a table or two? It probably wouldn't benefit all American AB members, but at worst it would raise awareness of this place in the relevant region? |

GD Baltimore had club setups so we can easily create a presence there. Worse comes to worse, we hold a bash at my place. First ever outdoor bash on an acre of land! |

Thanks for the advice. I'll hit up Scrubout to do something with me at one of our local cons. We had discussed it in the past, Scrubby what do you think? Anybody else from the Americas interested? |

I would certainly be interested in participating although it would certainly be somewhat contingent on location. I think Origins is a good idea because it is a moderate size city which means hotels won't be outrageous, and it is one of the more central locations that we could do this |

Ok, well first things first, where is centrally located for the AB Americans? Once we have that we can find a good event close to that and try to get a table or something small so that people know who we are. I also suggest that posters with multiple forum ID's put links to the Ammbunker in their sig's so that we can get the name out there, so even if they don't join up they will know what the forum is all about. Name recognition helps politicians more than policy, so lets adopt that model .I am totally willing to help strategize, even if I can't go. Besides I need practice in organizing massive country/world wide events. |

Gencon Indy is the most Central of the big cons. Although Origins is only a state further east. Does anyone have a large game store or GW bunker that is a little more West than either of these cons, that would be willing to host an event? What about Adepticon? Should we look into contacting them to see if they could make some space for us? It's in Illinois, so is even more central than either of the big cons. The only major problem I see with Adepticon is that we'd have to bring terrain. (I do have a few contacts in Illinois that may be able to help with terrain.) Is anyone close to any of these events? Where is everyone that's interested located? I'm in California so I have to travel to any of these, which is fine. There is little time to waste, we really need to hash out some of the details so we can get a jump on setting up an event. I'd like to thank schoolcormorant for putting this in the Newsletter and bringing it to the attention of all our Members.

Well, there are three location options in my mind: east coast (Boston, Baltimore), midwest (Indiana, Illinois), west coast (California). I live in NH but wouldn't mind going to the midwest. The problem we have over our British counterparts is the sheer size of the country (a thanks to France and Spain for that). GW had multiple GDs for a reason. I would suggest asking the Chicago battlebunker. Its of a decent size and because its a GW store, can get us WD coverage... |

Oi! It's in there because I asked him to put it in there....I feel slighted, if I had emotions i'd be quite hurt... Anyway, on a more serious note I'm not sure how much support the UK based Mod team can give but obviously we are here to give whatever support we can. After organising the AB presence at GD last year and this years Bash i've got a bit of experience now so feel free to get in touch. It would be preferable if any fliers, adverts etc fitted in with the AB look and style as per the flier we currently have and the Bash notices. If you need copies of these or modded versions again just let me know. |

Chicago is fairly 'centrally' located as in from California to our British and European brothers and sisters who would desire to make the trip. I can fly for free as long as my dad comes, and that shouldn't be a problem. |
