Ok, I've finally gone off the deep end. Originally, I wanted to create “some” of the buildings from Taros. I loved the fluff from the campaign book, and having played several scenarios in small games and Apoc, I started to really get into it. I began to expand on some of the points brought up and to expand on the Governor’s relationship with the Tau. After working on it on and off for the year, I feel my additions are in line with what’s been established. That was important because of a building I wanted to create, one that some of you might have seen already. So… this all started because I had a cool piece of terrain I wanted to build, but needed to find a way to justify it being on the table. I’ll post my fluff next, but here’s my "Shrine to the Fallen of Taros": ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Last year I whipped out an Orbital Defense Laser, using a Christmas tree stand I got from Walmart several years ago. This made for a fun objective. ![]() One day I was rummaging around and knocked it off it’s storage box, and popped the cannon out of it’s mount. So saddened, I pushed it to the back of my to-do shelf for future repairs. Then with the release of Planetstrike, I got the idea of making a landing pad insert and turning it into an uber-Bastion with a landing pad on top. Perfect. Oh, wait! I can use it as the Spaceport on Taros! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Note the loading door on the one side. This will face in to the compound, with the other four armored and armed sides facing out. Supply ships land and are “lowered” into the structure where they can be unloaded and loaded. So here is my re-draw of the Palace Square: ![]() ![]() I’ve added the Space Port (22) to the South wall, and moved the Chapel of the Devine Emperor (11) adjacent to it. I moved the Shuttle Landing Pad (9) to the West, centered in that area, to make more room at the entrance of the Space Port. The Shrine to the Fallen of Taros (16) replaces the Palace Spires atop the mountain. I extended the entire North wall to make a larger, square Parade Square (19). |

Wow detailed plans dude, the orbital laser looks fantastic. Which bit is based on the christmas tree stand? Is it the actual laser coz that would be a weird stand. |

Certainly looks like a good project, although a lot to take on. Like the laser, using a tree stand is inspired. Where did you get the laser from? |

I think that the laser itself, is a super soaker. Nice use of it, if that is indeed the case though! |

The green part! I cut into it and added/moved parts around. Then, of course I added lights. ![]() The cannon is a watergun from a dollar-store with a whole bunch of bits added to it (i.e. Zoids, COD, Power Rangers, etc.). ![]() |

So here is the mountain to the East, that will contain the Govenor's Private Residence and the Shrine to the Fallen of Taros:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, that's a four-foot by three-foot by eight-foot solid blockof foam. An electric chainsaw will be my tool of choice. That and a shop-vac. Edited by TrooperPX, 17 Sep 2009, 02:05 PM.

I have several if anyone is interedted in them. I don't plan to move it once done... the Apoc game this is for will most likely come to the warehouse when the time comes. |

Great use of junk! Looking forward to seeing how this develops. I like the defence laser. I may even have a couple of spare hammy balls laying around, may have a go myself. Hmmmm. May be worth a trip to the dump. |

You have several? Christ man, how much storage space do you have? I suppose the clue is in the word warehouse.

The original table was to be six-feet wide, twelve long. But since the foam is eight-feet wide, and I want more than two feet on either side of the Shrine, I'm not going to cut it down. So the new plan is for an eight-foot wide table... |
