So anyway, with Planetstrike being popular, and my long standing obsession with the Mechanicus, I thought I'd throw together a Ryza themed planetary assault force. It also gives me an excuse to get lots of big models and paint them red, which is a favourite past time of mine, and also fiddle around magnetising the Valks so I can change them to Vendettas and transport them more easily.

I should remove one executioner, and add an vanquisher, for some more long range fire power.

The problem is that most of your weapons are close range. SO most armies can kill you on the way in, or destroy you when they get to you in close combat, where your army dies very quickly.

I know you will say that you have those flying tin cans, but you need more long range fire-power.

also mate as i said to you last night, a flying circus isn't very forge world-y is it?

Drop all but2 of the flying things, and take Chimera's, maybe drop an executioner as Novo said, possibly include a command salamder for your command squad, some sentinels maybe for some flank firepower, would look a lot better and a lot more mechanicus/Forge World Tech Guard then your list is atm.
Also how about including something other then veterans with Plasma guns?

Hell you could even get MArbo in there as a super skitarii commando...:D

AND STOP COPY PASTING UNITS FOR WEAPON SPAM YOU UNIMAGINATIVE FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

but seriously, your list sucks mate...

More variety is the way to go here!

If you want a true aerial assautl list then you should drop some of the vets to pick up stormies, vary some of the special weapons, condense your valk squadrons, take a few sentinels, drop the three tanks completely and take a vulture or two. This way you'll actually get the fast, drop assault, force you'd set out to create. The sentinels can scout forward very quickly, and hug cover to distract the enemy while your two valkyrie squadrons manouvre around the, probably, more static force. Your vultures, meanwhile, are the real punch with their vast array of weapons, and they are a lot cheaper under the updated rules (105pts with twin multilasers and two hellstrikes). Said update can be found here.

If you want a more balance force then pick up a few chimeras, get some variety in your armour, maybe take some stormies again and trade in some of those plasma guns for something less suicidal. This way you get a fast army that can take the fight to the foe, but without having Fabricator General Python's Flying Circus. Inclusion of some artillery would allow you to pin the enemy into place while you execute a refuse flank to encircle the opponent's weaker flank and roll up his lines.

Just my tuppence, mate.

Dave out.

in my opinion, plasma isnt really worth it in large numbers with guard. your enemy will kill enough of you, you dont need to help them along by averaging over 2 overheats a turn, and thats without rapid firing

You need more melta guns. Any mechanised list will tear this list apart.
