Yea, my friend says "shim-mera"... I say "kai-mera".
He says "kah-ta-kans" ... I say "ca-ta-chans".

You are right on Chimera. But wrong on Catachans.
The official answer on Catachan as reported earlier in the thread was they're both right.

Personally I'd never go with katakan, sounds dead silly to me. :P

I would never have said Katakan, but I thought it was the right way according to recent developments?

Catachan is -Kat-a-chan - makes more sence in the English language the way its structured.

In a recent WD it was stated quite clearly that it's Kat-a-kan. I'm sorry.

Oh well, if WD wants to decide it thats fair enough. Won't really bother me, no way I'd ever buy such badly scaled models anyway. :P

Catachan arms are on my all time worst ever sculpts list, along side Chaplain Lemartes *shudder* and just about anything by Gary Morley and Mike McVey... :D

I would have thought it should be cat-a-chan, since ch makes that noise, not a "K" noise. Unless I remember my English wrong.

Yes. I know. I used to say Kat-a-chan too. I know it makes more sense that way. But no matter how much anyone denies it or how much people refuse to accept it, it has been confirmed as Kat-a-kan. It's really not a big deal, now I know I'm not going to refuse to pronounce it that way on a dumb principle. Kat-a-kan it is.

If anyone wants to carry on mispronouncing it, ironically enough in the 40k mispronunciations thread, knock yourselves out.

The "official" pronounciation doesnt really matter though, most people I know say Catachan with chan in the end, and I doubt any will change because som suit says its said another way.

Though I get a bit annoyed at some people here who pronounce Ragnar with the G sounding "solid" if you understand how I mean, it may be right in english but in swedish its pronounced somewhat like in general.

Am i missing something?

Ragnar is pronounced Rag-nar, always has been even in Scandanavian languages., so i have been taught by danish and and norweign university lecturers anyway.

Also trained alongside a Finnish Sergeant who was called Ragnar, and pronounced it Rag-nar...
