that sucks man...

were it me, and there was noone else in the car i would have just piled it off the road...

couple of mates i know did that and thus didnt have to claim/didnt get in trouble for a stupid motorcyclist dying because he was doing 110 in their lane in the opposite direction. the cyclist actually somehow survived his bike disintegrating underneath him as he went off the road, and walked from the accident, mates were fine as well.

Wow, glad you're both safe and well, hope everything gets sorted out okay. At least if it was a 4 car and you were at the back then you'd only be responsible for hitting the one in front, who themself would be liable for the one they hit (since that happened before you hit them).

Whereas when I wrote my fiesta off 3 years back, it was at lights and everyone else was stationary as I skidded braking, and I pushed the one I hit into one in front, so I was liable for both (doh!)

Also, in the cost vs excess debate, worth claiming for due to other factors like cost of towing, courtesy cars, injury claims etc..

Plus you'd be obliged to tell your insurer regardless - they ask if you've had accidents not just claims after all.

Can you tell what industry I work in? :D

Well thats the thing, I told the insurance there was every chance that the guy I hit, would have either hit the car in front anyway, or had already as I hit him, but I wasn't sure, but I made sure they knew it was a good possibility. The two cars at the front were stationary, I hit the jeep, which hit the first car, which hit the 2nd. All 3 drove away once they were cleared by the police (and after my car was removed from the jeeps towbar). So I think any insurance claims they make will be small damage, such as dents in plastic bumpers etc. No1 else was hurt, other than my gf who had some seatbelt bruising.

One of the cars involved was a CID police officer lol. Then 3 more police cars turned up, 2 ambulances, an off duty paramedic who happened to be stuck in the queue of cars, and an air ambulance lol. And one heck of a queue of traffic, all caused by me, technically lol.
