Apparently Codex Pictures (coincidently named by the way) also made Bionicles the movie which I know very little about to be honest. Did a bit of hunting on youtube and found the following bit from the Bionicle movie:

Might be a bit of a leap from lego (I think it's lego???) to a proper 40k film though, only time will tell I guess.

Yes, Bionicle is lego, although its more like the technic ranges.

After a quick check i know that it is not the vid you posted as that was made by tinseltown toons.

Which is unfortunate as i liked that vid and the quality of it.

I do however know that the only bionicle trilogy is these three films, two of which i actually own.
Bionicle: Mask of Light
Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui
Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows

Here is an example bit from the second film,

Also i have an official announcement on the codex pictures website here and it has supposedly been revealed at gamesday.

Doesn't it look like a face!
Because hiring a CG company to do live film work makes lots of sense, right?

Tis all CGI mate. Althopugh the state of the art animation may include motion capture for realistic interaction.

sounds awesome. the only problem is that its ultrasmurfs. yes, they are GWs golden boys, but surely more people hate them than like them, as they are always everywhere?

Entertainment officer...Meet the gang cos the boys are here.....
they were interviewing people to canvas opinion on what and how .....including me. By the looks of it they are doing their homework on this, so its one to watch. my only concern with any idea of a 40K based film is that the producers will focus too much on just making an action film that will look cool but devoid of context. Also what rating its given. GW may want to aim for a 12 which would be perfect to attract new little gremlins into the hobby but would likely make it too 'clean'.
as for cgi, if they make it look like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFHKIFDjk9I&feature=related
i'll be a happy bear

I think Andy is referring to the tone, action and ambiance o the film. Graphically, I'd be happy with something in between FInal Fantasy Advent Children and James Cameron's Avatar. Shouldn't be too hard in this day and age.

Dave out.

I'm not expecting too much from it. I'm not sure if it's for cinema or dvd release.

It'd be cool if they did a montage bit at the beginning where you see the main character progress from neophyte to marine though.
No love interests I hope though.

Watched Surrogate today...it was ok.

It's confirmed as straight to DVD. I'm optimistic TBH. If they can pull off something like the Dawn of War 2 intro I'll be happy...
