Going to see District 9 today, looking forward to it. My notoriously 'hungry' friend was put off his cinema food when he watched it. That never happens.

What is this "Triangle" of which you speak Dave? Is it related to the Bermuda one by any chance?

District 9 is pretty good. They kind of remind me of the Cog in AT-43.

oh, hadnt realised it came out yet, would explain why i cant find it at my local cinema's upcoming features board... :(

and marovian - it is, looks to be a psychological horror film (the very best kind, the ones that actually scare me) about a couple who lose wind, then get capsized in a mysterious storm. They are picked up by a big freighter, and then somehow get trapped in a groundhog day loop, or thats what the trailer implies. Final shot of the trailer is the female character walking onto an open section of deck with about 20 mutilated and dead versions of her being picked at by seagulls...

Saw the trailer for Triangle and thought it looked pretty formulaic, but then it s exactly the kind of film that bores me. Enjoyed District 9, very different, more cerebral kind of Sci-fi film compared to what we generally get nowadays.

Haven't seen district 9 yet. Rather unfortunately, my Mum went to see it with her friend (she likes a bit of sci-fi, star trek movies, that sort of thing) and walked out half way though because she felt ill!

I actually had no idea it was that gribbly to watch. I didn't get that feel from the trailers/promotional stuff.

Every single thing I've heard about District 9 can be summed up in a giant 'do want'.

Hell, I've been on about it since I saw a trailer/'Alive in Joberg' combo back in March, so I'm seriously after that movie.

It's actually a really good film. Starts off as a documentary of the relocation of aliens that have become stranded on earth then turns into a more conventional action film.
It's loosely based around the real life district six in south Africa.

I didn't find it that gory to be honest, it's no worse for blood and guts than Star Ship Troopers.
The aliens look really good and the CGI is well done.

It's very good. :)

Yes, i agree, watched the film today and have to say that it is definetly one of my favourite films ever. Almost every thing about it is perfect. The only bit that wasnt was when the main characters accent seemed to change whenever he swore.

Argh, you fools! Stop making me want this movie so hard.

I watch the trailer, and did want.

Select sources are like, "It's really good", and I'm like "I would enjoy viewing this particular cinematic entertainment."

Then, it comes out, and everybody and his dog is all "I are watched it! It are deserving of your money and your womens!", and I'm like "*massive rage and despair*".

That's probably not healthy. Good thing it started showing at the Capitalist Fortress of Excess yesterday. Only hurdle now is to disguise self and compatriots as responsible individuals who are not in any sense currently prohibited from entering said Capitalist Fortress of Excess by court order.

We've practically seen it already. :P

I know it sounded funny but that's how South Africans say that word. It wasn't so much gory as a bit eeew. Lot's of skiving through rubbish tips and eating raw meat and stuff. The bit with the eggs I found nasty.

It was strange to hear accents that weren't American in a mainstream Sci-fi film. Bizzarre.
